Mean mommy action of the day

DD didn't eat her lunch and we are about to go to playgroup, so I wanted her to eat something.  I told her I would make her a strawberry smoothie, so I put her lunch, mushroom and chicken risotto, into the smoothie with strawberries, green beans, peanut butter, and a couple of ounces of soda to blend.  She sucked it all down in about 3 minutes talking about how yummy it was.  Now I won't feel bad about all the junk she will eat at playgroup.

One day I know she will get wise to this.

  • That sounds so gross, but good job getting all that in her!

  • Wow, she ate it?? Wonder what that would taste like....???
  • Ick!

I'd say more, but I am still reeling over what was in that smoothie.  Glad she liked it though!

  • Mean mommy action my ass.  That was a smoothie move 100% successful if you ask me.

    Pun totally intended!!

  • OK, I'm rethinking this now.  Wouldn't a better solution be to not let her have any snacks at playgroup because she didn't eat her lunch? By better, I mean a permanent fix to the problem and teaching her consequences for her decisions?

I'm not trying to sound judgy, even though I know that is how I am sounding.  I think I remember you saying she is on the low end of the weight scale and understand that is probably influencing your actions.  I am just a big believer in having children learn the consequences of their actions and that sounds like a great teaching opportunity.  I understand we all have to do what works for each of us though.

    Yes  Could not agree more.

And, also, Ick!  I try to stick to, if I wouldn't eat, I shouldn't make my kids eat it.  And, well, this falls under that category.

  • LOL - omg - that is AWESOME
  • Very mean Mommy that is nasty.  But do what you must she ate it no harm done.

  • I could have made her not eat at playgroup, but it was time for her snack.  It is 3 hours since lunch, so other than take the risotto (which she picked out from 2 choices), I was stuck letting her have a snack (which is usually cookies and crackers).  She is not a big kid, 1% for BMI, and going 6 hours without food would have ruined the day and not really taught her anything.  It was actually surprisingly tasty.  I would not eat it, but I don't eat 1/2 the things she eats, so that isn't really relevant.
