My sister and nephew are coming to live with us.
She is leaving her husband (he doesnt know) this evening.
I am scared. to. death.
My DH and I are both pretty passive people. We dont have any weapons and we dont like fighting/confrentation.
My BIL is 100% the opposite. He has a gun, he is violent, he likes to drink, he has a gambling addiction, and will be FURIOUS when he comes home from class to see that she and their son are no longer there.
The only 'note' will be from her lawyer with my signature on it (and dh's signature) that basically says if he comes on our property, we'll press charges.
My house is in NO means prepared for a 3 year old.. i have glass frames/vases/etc everywhere. I have 2 small dogs who he thinks are soccer balls. DH and i work 4 jobs between the two of us, and are never home. She will be home alone with him allll the time (she's layed off). This worries me, too.
My bills are going to sky rocket and she has no money to help (not that this matters completely..but we are 'just making it')
But, its my sister (well.. i call her this. She is really my bff since i was 3 who lived with us for a few years after her mom passed away, then again in college)
Sorry for venting, but i think last night was the last peaceful night sleep i'll get for a looooong time.
Re: NGPR: My household size is increasing today..
Autumn, you have such a big heart to do this. She's lucky to have a sister like you. I hope things go smoothly for you and your family.
Autumn~YOU.ARE.AN.AMAZING.PERSON.
I don't think you realize how incredible this is. You and YH and one of a kind.
I agree. You are so selfless to do this.
You are a good Sister! I hope things go smoother for you then you are thinking and that your BIL takes the hint.

OMG Autumn you just amaze me every day with the size of your heart (you won me with egg donation but this one takes the cake!). I hope things go well for you all. You are doing the right thing. My sister was a victim of domestic violence and thankfully she got her 2 kids out of the situation which was very similar, it is so hard and takes a strong woman. Good for her.
Maybe if you are worried about financials you could post your budget over on MM? Make sure to tell them the situation of WHY you are taking in your sister, they might be able to offer some help on how to find more $$ in your budget if you are hanging on by a thread.
ETA: I would lay down STRICT ground rules about the dogs to your sister, especially if he is grabby and thinks they are toys and she will be home all day. A 3 year old can be taught.

SAIF/PAIF Welcome
Lots of love and luck to my PAIF/3T/IF Veteran ladies, especially my dear friend Zookie. Congrats to Papps, Teach84 and Starbuck on their little ones.
I am so sorry you (and your sis/bff) are going through this. I think it is wonderful that you are helping her out of a bad situation.
Does her husband have keys to your place? If so, I would get your locks changed asap (you can have them re-cored as opposed to having to replace them all).
You and yours are in my T&P.

You're very kind to take in your friend/sister. I always say "good things happen to good people". And I dont think it needs to be said, but I'm thinking you must be one hell of a girl!
Maybe God has something up his sleeve for you...
For now, I will say a little prayer for you as I am sure you will need it. Your strength seems unfailing, and that's admirable.
Good luck and enjoy your evening alone.

Autumn, that is a wonderful thing to do. You have a huge heart and I think you are awesome for helping out your sister and her son.
Be safe and take care!
