I'm going with a hospital. I love the idea of a home birth or the like, but that would be very strange among my friends/family, plus I'd rather be safe than sorry and be at a hospital. I might consider something else for my second child.
Hospital. Although I would rather it be somewhere else if there were any other options within 2 hrs of our town. Our hospital seems pretty cut and dry with what they will and will not let you do. We are going for a natural birth and I just have a bad feeling that they will insist on going against a lot of my wishes. Trying to keep my mind open...
Hospital. Had my first at a hospital and the experience was great. Plus I get a private room with wireless internet access at this hospital so it's almost all the comforts of home. The only birthing center we have here is attached to the hospital and I didn't like the looks of it when we toured it.
Hospital. I really like my OB and the hospital's labor and delivery area is new and has a fantastic reputation.
However, after our first childbirth prep class this past weekend, I told Mr. Nonymous, "I wonder if they realize that a lot of the information they gave out was about how great midwives can make a birth--it kind of made me want to go that route instead!"
I think he's a lot more comfortable with the hospital, though, and to be perfectly honest I don't have the energy to research alternatives. In fact, while I like the idea of hiring a doula, I'm having enough trouble mustering the energy to find a pediatrician--and that's truly a necessity!
Good for you! we wanted to do a home birth or birthing center but it just didn't work out for us this time around. My next birth will probably be a homebirth if this one goes well.
Hospital. I don't want to have to worry about keeping my house immaculate if I were having a home birth, lol. Plus, my house isn't near the best hospital, and if something were to go wrong, I wouldn't end up at the hospital I prefer. However, my hospital is reopening in a new building, probably after I give birth (please don't wait till April, LO!), and they may have a birthing center... will have to do some research for LO #2

Home birth, but there is a hospital about a mile away in the event there are any complications.
