DD last night started clearly and distinctly saying "Mama." You could tell she was really thinking about it, tyring to form the words and then would say it. (it was not part of a string of babble - it was distinct). Of course DH and I flipped out and gave her all kinds of encouragement, and today my mom who watches her called me becuase Zoe was still doing it.
Is this normal, or is my child just going to be an advanced talker? :-) DH thinks she must have gotten my chatterbox genes.
Re: 6-month old saying "mama"?
DD starting go "mamamama" at 6 mo. I didn't count it as a word because of the repetition of the sound and the fact that she usually uses it when she's upset or fussing, but yeah, definitely capable of the sound.
It is normal. However, I am jealous too! My son laughs and says dada every time we try to get him to say mama. It is a joke to him.
