Who all shaved their legs while in labor?

People laugh at me all the time when I say I showered and shaved my legs during my contractions about 20 minutes before we went to the hospital...(I also had DH return movies and library books and get me breakfast!)

Re: Who all shaved their legs while in labor?

  • Haha.  I had a planned induction and shaved before we left for the hospital.

  • My water broke in the middle of the night, and I showered before I went to the hospital.  But I didn't even think of shaving my legs!  I did shave 4 days before though.
  • I did! went in for ultrasound at 36 weeks and was told i had to have the baby that day.....went home, showered and shaved and went to hospital.
  • I was pretty much in labor all day.  I went to church, out to breakfast, entertained guests at our house, ordered and picked up Chinese.

When I called the doctor at 8pm he told me I was in false labor and to drink a glass of water and go to bed.  So, I went upstairs, took a shower, styled my hair and layed down.  At about 11:30 the pain was so intense we went to the hopital and I was 8 cm and fully effaced.  I had my LO an hour later.

     CRAZY!

  • I did... My water broke while cleaning the house so I hopped in the shower washed my hair and shaved
  • I did!  I showered before leaving for the hospital and shaved.
  • My water broke and it was a slow leak so that bought me some time to shower and shave!
  • I also had an induction. Had an u/s Monday and my OB asked me when I wanted to be induced, I said ASAP and his response was how is tomorrow morning? SURE!! So DH and I went home and finished getting everything ready and the next morning I showered and shaved before we left for the hospital.

I always told DH that when I go in labour before I go to the hospital I was going to have a shower and shave. He thought I was nuts!!

  • I did!  I was having close contractions and took a shower and shaved before calling the dr to see if I needed to go to L&D.

  • I remember taking a shower at the hospital in early labor (indution) and had to take a break between contractions.  I'm pretty sure I had planned on shaving but then decided that was way too ambitious and nixed the idea, haha.

I was also trying to apply my makeup between contractions after the shower and I think I got as far as applying my foundation and then decided to skip the eyeliner and eyshadow, put on some mascara and be done with it.  Applying the mascara was tricky though, heh.

  • I showered before I went to the hospital, but I didn't bother shaving, fixing my hair, or putting on make-up.  In retrospect, I wish I had at least blow-dried my hair because I looked beyond awful in all of my hospital pics.

This.  And I also had a manicure and pedicure the day before.  Because I'm that vain.

  • I did.  I had a scheduled induction so I showered and shaved that night.  Shaved my lady parts too.  (Don't ask me why)

It took me over 2 days to have her though, so pretty sure I was hairy by the time I delivered anyway.

  • Me.  I labored at home for about 6 hrs before we went to the hospital the first time (then labored there for about 8 and came home for a few, then back lol) so I showered and all that stuff early on.
  • I was induced so I showered & shaved the night before.
  • Me!  Water broke that morning, went to the OB for my regular appt anyway and they wanted to send me straight to hospital, but I had to go home and get my stuff and wait for DH to get home from work (I hadn't told him my water broke/contrax had started).

So before leaving, I shaved, showered, cleaned up the house, put my out-of-office on my work email, took my last belly shots, grabbled lunch and then finally left.

DH thought I was crazy and kept wanting me to go, but it was just something I had to do and knew I had some time.  LOL

  • Not only did I shave my legs but I kept a wax appt the day before I went into my 39 week appt (but I ended up in L&D instead and delivered later that day)

This! Except I had a scheduled C-section not induction. I also groomed my girly parts. FI was like you haven't done that for me in 3 months, wtf? lol He was messing with me but it was totally true.

  • Luckily, I had my 40 week appt. on my EDD, so I had already shaved my legs and trimmed my lady bits by the time my water broke 7 hours later.

  • I also showered when my water broke, but I didnt shave my legs. We also stopped at the dry cleaners on the way to the hospital to pick up DH's pants that he wanted to wear..lol
  • I showered, shaved, and did my hair and makeup...while taking contraction breaks.
  • My water broke and we called the hospital. They said I could take my time since I wasn't having contractions yet. You better believe I shaved and we also went out to Breakfast before we went to the hospital. She didn't come until the next day.
  • I did!  Was having pretty painful contractions and had to grip the shower curtain a couple times but was determined not to be hairy before going to the hospital!  Especially since I figured I wouldn't be able to shave for several days after that.

  • Hell yeah I shaved my legs! My water broke, and I tried unsuccessfully to call my husband for 20 minutes. Oh you bet I was pissed that I couldn't get in touch with him. When he finally answered, I took a shower while he raced home, and then we cleaned and put extra food out for the cats and gathered up all our stuff. But I wasn't about to NOT shave my legs. I might have even used the pumice stone on my feet, LOL.

  • If I had shaved my legs while in labor, I would have had my baby in my bathroom.
  • My water broke during the night and when I got up in the morning (still intending to go to work) I showered and shaved my legs. I also did my hair but didn't do my makeup. DH stopped on the to the hospital to get himself breakfast!

  • Seriously? Shaving was the last thing on my mind while I was contracting! I figure they've seen it all. Although the doctor did compliment my pedicure! I had my toes done tropical pink with flowers painted on them the week before I went into labour.

I had breakfast and watched a movie in the early stages.

  • Well, I shower and shave daily. So I guess I did.. But I was induced this time.

With DD1 I showered and shaved and dried my hair through contractions. They weren't that bad at that point but I knew I'd be heading in and wanted to feel clean as long as I could.

Don't get why good hygiene is considered laughable Wink
