My doctor plans to strip my membranes tomorrow if I am dilated at all. I have a coworker whose water broke when her doctor did that on her due date. Now, while I am not anticipating that happening, did anyone here go into real labor after been "stripped"?
Re: Did stripping your membranes work?
Yes!
Doc stripped mine when I was four days overdue. She gave me like 48 hrs to go into labor once she stripped them or we would induce with medicine. I went into labor the next night.
Mine were stripped on a Monday, 5 days after I was due. I went into labour on that Thursday morning, admitted into hospital 24 hours later, and ended up having bab early in the am Saturday.
Stripping membranes is one of those things...only really works if your body is ready.
My membranes were stripped about 1.5 weeks before I went into labor and almost a full 2 weeks before was due. Yeah, I know, I have no idea why she did it either. My MW was on vacation and for some unknown reason the sub that I saw decided to strip my membranes without even telling me.
Yes, I believe it worked for me. We went to L&D for a false alarm on a Thurs night, she stripped my membranes and sent us home. We were back again 24 hours later on Friday night in full blown labor - baby born Saturday AM...
I was 3 days past due.
GL!
Nope. Though it did help me dilate and efface.
Yes. ?The 2nd time. ?Once doctor did it on my due date and nothing happened (though it didn't feel like she did anything). ?Another one of my doctor's did it four days later and I really felt it! ?I was in labor by the evening and delivered the next day.
?Just depends if your body is ready or not.?
