For those planning to cloth diaper LO

Just wanted to recommend the Bum Genius diaper sprayer to anyone planning to CD. We've been cloth diapering DS2 part time for a year and exclusively for the past few weeks. I decided that if we're going to keep doing this full time we need a sprayer, so I splurged last week and ordered the Bum Genius diaper sprayer and it is the best thing EVER! DH hooked it up today and I just had to use it for the first time. That thing is like a power washer for poo. If you're cloth diapering exclusively, or even the majority of the time, I highly recommend a sprayer for the toilet.

Re: For those planning to cloth diaper LO

  • We are going to CD this baby (we used disposables with DS), and it is definitely on my list of things that I need to get!

  • Thank you, I was going to ask a similar question. Does it remove all stains from the diaper?
  • I have a feeling it will as long as you spray the diaper immediately. I had to turn the water down because it sprays so hard that it will splash clear across the bathroom, so I don't see why it would leave anything behind. Laying a diaper in the sunshine before washing is a great stain remedy as well.

We've been cloth diapering our son for about a year now and we use Fuzzi Bunz diapers. I also recommend the diaper sprayer! We don't have ANY stains AT ALL on his diapers and we just soak them in Bio-Kleen BacOut overnight and then wash them in Charlie's Soap.

That's great. Im going to google these

  • I've been wondering how helpful it really is because some people that i know said it's just as easy to hold onto the diaper and flush it! but i'm glad to hear you like it! i'll have to look into getting one! :)

  • I wholeheartedly agree.  It really is a MUST HAVE item if you plan to CD.

We've tried several different diapers, including Fuzzi Bunz. Every time DS poops it comes straight up his back in a FB, but I love the lining. It is so soft. I like Bum Genius AIO's, but they take a lot longer to dry than pocket diapers. We've recently tried Rumparooz and are in love with them.  They are a one size pocket diaper and are fantastic!

First, ewww gross! And second, we've tried that method and it does not work once you have a baby on solid food. It takes a lot of swishing in the toilet to clean out a CD that way. It takes just a few seconds and a couple quick sprays. It also keeps you from drenching the whole outer part of the diaper. I don't want a pail full of completely soaked diapers sitting around all day until I put the laundry in when DS2 goes to bed and this prevents that and cuts down on the smell. To each her own, but after CDing for a while, I was positive I did not want to keep swishing diapers around in the toilet, but certainly didn't want to go to disposables either. This was the perfect solution for me.

yuk!  i've never sprayed or dunked my dipes.  if it doesn't "plop" i just throw it in the washer, no problem. no stains!

i've heard if you have an HE there are more problems with getting that kind of poo out.  i have a top loader, non HE.

  • In Asia, most toilets also have a sprayer.  Neither DH and I use it (it's meant to be used instead of toilet paper, which can clog most toilets over here), so it's good to know it'll come in handy when LO arrives!

LOL, I told DH I better not catch him using it as a bidet. I'm glad they are actually used that way in some parts of the world and we're not just mental cases for thinking of itWink

  • The woman at my local CD store actually recommended using it (on low) as a bidet until you heal after delivery.  Same idea as using a spray bottle, but its already there.

I think even on the low setting it would spray a little too hard to be used on a healing vag. I suppose it could work though, if the spray wasn't too hard.

  • I never needed the diaper sprayer.  And, we don't have easy-to-remove poop.  I just do the dunk-n-flush and I've had zero issues getting the poop off or with stains.
