KY state law requires us to both take a 2 hour parenting class before they will grant a divorce.
Is anyone elses state have something like this?
How exactly do they think dd has stayed alive for this long? I bet it will be a waste of $30 and the two hours of my life it takes to do it...not to mention having to find a babysitter.
Re: Parenting classes...
We have it. It is actually a pretty decent class. Just talks about trying not to put kids in the middle regarding custody and money.
ok, so funny story. STBXH and I were on good terms. We decided to go together (about 30 minutes away during rush hour.) He shows up at my house smelling like a bar. I should have told him to go to hell, but I was not interested in a fight. So we go, sit in the back of the room. He asked the poor unsuspecting girl next to him "Did the court make you come to this?" I informed him that everyone there was court ordered to take the class. Everyone had something else they would have rather had been doing. So, he continuted to make stupid comments, play with his phone (wathcing tv and playing games) and talking very loudly. Finally a police officer working a detail there took him outside and told him if he didn't shut up he would be kicked out. While he was outside with the officer, the poor girl on the other side of him said "Congrats on divorcing that idiot." I had never been more validated and embarrased in all my life. I wanted to die then but it makes me laugh now.
Attorney told me that we are both going to have to take a $30 class that will teach us how to help our child cope with the divorce. In the same breath she said there is no point since we seperated at 10 weeks pregnant so the baby will know no difference, hopefully I can get something good out of the class.
My baby has never ever heard his father's voice and the only time he has seen me with my belly was in court.
That is hilarious!
I will most definately go into the class with an open mind.
OMG-how funny! Read my story too, it sounds similar! Sad thing was there was a nice guy sitting next to me and he (and everyone else in the class) probably wondered who the freakshow was sitting next to me!
Wow! Are we back in high school?! Wth is wrong with him.
I have no intentions of taking the class the same night as h. Though I think he would be playing on his cell phone the whole time too. His gf has to have constant access to him! lol.His phone has been blown up every single time he has ever come to see dd.It's pretty sad when you can't spend 45 minutes devoted to seeing your daughter...
The answer to this question is: a lot. I would venture to say that he is so messed up that he doesn't even belong with the rest of society. Lock him up, either in jail or in a mental institution. The dude is seriously troubled. And that's putting it mildly....and it's not just the drugs. I think there's some sort of personality disorder like maybe that he's a sociopath.
WA requires this as PP from WA said...it is a 4 hour class and is "court-ordered" to take within some shortish timeframe of splitting. I put it in quotations because XH didn't do it in that time frame, then at all. Thankfully when he didn't show up for TWO court dates they granted me the divorce and my proposed parenting plan without him taking the class at all.
I was very close minded during the class - but a lot of it was good info that just took time to sink in later Not my ideal way to spend a Saturday morning but it was good.

PAHAHA! You crack me up. Although I have a strange feeling that you are not kidding.
