Hi Ladies,
My doctor recently diagnosed me with PCOS and perscribed me Metformin 1500mg. This is supposed to "hopefully" cause me to have a more regular cycle and ovulate regularyly. If I am not pregnant by May, my doctor said he will put me on Chlomid. Can any of you tell me your experiences with Metformin and Chlomid? Also, did you get pregnant?
Thanks!
Re: Meformin and PCOS
I've been on metformin for 2 months now, also 1500 mg. It's fine. I can't eat lettuce - seriously, it's ugly. But other than that, I feel better - less swollen and more energetic. I've also been trying to cut down on carbs and exercise more, I feel like the metformin helps.
I've been on clomid for 5 cycles (this is my last). I did not ovulate without it. I had some side effects but nothing too bad. I'll be glad to get the hell off it, though.
I am not pregnant.
Good luck!
It took 5 failed IUIs and a failed IVF, but our FET worked!

Hello and welcome. Different people have different experiences on Metformin. I do fairly well on it. I started with 500mg and stepped up slowly, over the course of a month and a half to the maximum dose of 2000mg. I take the extended release version.
I had severe GI side effects for the first three weeks. I need to be very careful about eating carbs and sugar, and I always carry chewable Immodium with me. Some people have worse, some people aren't bothered. It has helped my cycles get a little more regular, but I've been on it nearly a year, and still no BFP.

Thanks ladies.
I am only on my second week of Metformin and so far I haven't had all that many side effects except for a little indigestion. Yesterday I was sick to my stomach and tossed all my lunch, but today I feel great.
