Postpartum Depression

help :(

I've been feeling so down lately. I've had a diagnosis of depression for almost 10 years, but when I'm on my meds (Celexa) I am able to manage it really well. I don't know if this is exhaustion or PPD a little late in the game but all those feelings are coming back - anxiety, sadness, worthlessness, hopelessness. Does PPD hit this late in the game? Is it my old depression rearing it's ugly head and I jsut have to fight through it? Or is it just exhaustion from being at home with a 5 month old all day every day?

Re: help :(

  • You can start getting symptoms up until a year. Don't try and pull yourselves out by your bootstraps. Can you go see someone?

  • My doctor said that they keep an eye out for PPD as long as 18 months postpartum. ?I definitely think you should speak to your doctor. ?Best wishes.

  • Your hormones are still out of whack, so yes, it could be.  Either way, though, definitely call your doctor.

    I hope you feel better!

  • You are definitely still vulnerable.  Talk to your Dr as there are some great resources in the Toronto area!
  • I had some baby blues at first, but I don't think that my issues started until he was 6 months old.  Things got worse and then I got help and it got better.  Good luck!  You should definitely talk to your doctor.
