Sometimes I wonder if what I'm feeding my kids is considered fairly well-balanced and healthy. I generally think that we eat decently, but then I have friends whose children don't eat any sugar, munch on kale for snacks and plain tofu for dinner. I then start to question whether what I'm feeding the rugrats is really all that, LOL.
Today was a very typical day for us with regards to what we ate. Would you consider this well-balanced? Would you feel pretty happy if your kid ate this in a day or do you think it's somehow lacking? (Not enough veggies/fruit, too much sugar, something else?)
breakfast: sunbutter and honey sandwich on whole wheat bread, banana, milk
lunch: fish sticks w/ketchup and a mango, milk
snack: dry cereal, M&Ms
dinner: homemade southwest style turkey vegetable soup and butter bread, milk
In between those meals and one snack there were probably a few more random unaccounted handfuls of M&Ms here and there too. ;-)
Re: Does this seem like a balanced diet to you?
Sounds good to me!
Sounds good to me!
We usually give DS carrot sticks or a dixie cup with frozen peas or corn as a snack before dinner. If he eats those, I don't stress about him eating a lot of veggies at dinner. (for some reason, it's an issue during dinner, but not as a snack... )
