  My friend's little girl is named this and she pronounces it ASH-ling.  It is the irish way, but I also know an Irish girl named Ashling. 

  I was going to name my kid Ashling, but it didn't go with my very Jewish married name

  Ashling... but only because I recently read a book set in Ireland where this was the main character's name. She had to explain to someone how to pronounce it. Up until that point of the book I was thinking "ice-ling"
