Bored - What will be your splurge?

What will you splurge on for this pregnancy?

I would say my biggest splurge (and must have) is a super nice stroller.  I am a self proclaimed stroller snob and was eager to test drive and by (we went with the UppaBaby Vista Special Edition - Maya).

My next splurge will be custom bedding - I am still fighting DH on this as he doesn't get it since the baby will just drool, throw up, poop, and everything else on it.

  • I will splurge on bedding, I think.
  • i agree wtih your DH on that one! i never got custom bedding either! and, i see lots of women say that was their biggest regret splurge.

our kids will share a room, probably for a while, so we are going to spend a little more money on quality bedroom furniture.

other splurges are more for me: monthly massages until the 3rd T, then biweekly, then weekly in the last month. I LOVE my husband for being on board with this expense.

  • Stroller.  I will need a double that works for an infant and a toddler, and I want to get a really nice one.  I'm not sure which one yet, I don't even have a clue, I will need to go test drive a few!

  • Probably furniture and the stroller..I have been obessing looking at nurserys on Ohdeedoh and other sights to get good ideas on bedding and decor..
  • I went into Land of Nod for the first time before Christmas (before I got my BFP) and I have a feeling that I will be splurging a lot there.  I fell in love with so much of their furniture and bedding.

I can't wait to start shopping!

  • Mine will be my furniture for the nursery!  I already told my DH NOT to mess with me on what it costs... he is a penny pincher when it comes to anything but his electronics Smile !!

I will also probably spend a little extra on bedding!

  • I want a Storch wrap.  Probably not a splurge to some, and a wrap is vital to me, but I'm cheap.  So there's that. lol

I love that you (we) are here doing these polls.

My splurge might be a rocker/glider with an ottoman.

  • If I splurge on ANYTHING (this is our 3rd child) it will be a nice dark wood high chair. We have been through several high chairs (non of them broke but we just don't ever LIKE any of them - too hard to take the tray off while holding baby or not the right height or just UGLY in our dining room.... ). So I'm CONSIDERING buying one of those...

  • Definitely stroller.  I'm hoping to splurge on my fave photographer for NB photos but we just had him to family photos for DS's 1st birthday and I don't know if I can convince DH to have another session.

  • A chocolate brown leather rocking recliner for the nursery and a good stroller with rubber tires since we do a lot of our errands on foot.

  • I'm not doing the custom bedding again.  I spent to much money on something Emerson used about two years.  She didn't mess it up with puke or poop though.

AND don't fool yourself by saying you'll use it again because, you won't.  lol-

I'll splurge on the stroller.  I'm also having buy another crib like the one I bought for Emerson which I could almost buy a nice adult bed for what that cost.

    Here is the crib:

  • another crib, a double stroller and a Medella Breast Pump

  • Double Stroller!
  • I want a super nice stroller and awesome bedroom furniture.  I also love love love baby clothes (Janie and Jack and Baby Gap are my faves!).  And probably some cute maternity clothes for me.
  • since we have most everything the splurge will be a nice double stroller!
  • I'm with you on the stroller.  I had to have the best stroller for DS and ended up getting the Bugaboo.  While I do love it I use my umbrella stroller more.  Now I'm wondering if I need to get a Double Stroller...

I think our biggest splurge will be bedroom furniture for DS.  I don't want to buy another crib because we are only planning on having two children.  We are hoping to get DS into a toddler bed.  If it doesn't work out we may end up getting another crib.  If we have another boy we are pretty much all set.  If we have a girl, my biggest splurge will be bedding and clothes..

  • A really good breast pump, and I'm thinking about regular massages too. Oh, and the nursery decor... not really furniture, I'm fine with nice secondhand stuff, but I want a jungle theme and man, those wall stickies that look like big palm trees are expensive! I really want DH to finally buy me a horse trailer so I can quite borrowing friends' as my "thank you for pushing our dear child out your hooha" present, but I'm not sure he's going to go for it as it's really not baby-related and I think this year is going to be dominated by baby stuff. I'm also meeting my dad and sister in FL to tell them the baby news, and then DH and I are going over to England for a couple weeks when I'm about 5 months so that he can finally meet all of my family before a baby makes traveling more difficult! We've been married 4 years, so I would say it's time.
  • We will splurge on nice furniture that will hopefully last the kid through high school (Going to get a convertible crib).

We are also splurging on a baby moon...a week in st. lucia when i'll be about 25 weeks.

  • I will splurge on a high quality jogging stroller.  That will pretty much be it.  The baby doesn't care if it's sleeping on custom bedding or in a $3k crib.  That's just me, though.  I just don't think it's worth spending so much money on things like that.  As long as it's safe and functional, it works for me.

  • The splurge will most likely be on DD.  I think we're going to re-do her room and hand down the other furniture.  She's in the full size (converted crib) and I hate how high it is for DD.  I'd rather get her a twin that is normal height.
  • We'll probably buy a new crib but get the rest of the furniture off Craig's List.  I have some nice hand-me-down Classic Pooh bedding from my sister that I will use.  And I have a wooden high-chair from my childhood that we will use.  Probably the biggest splurge will be buying a nice rocker-glider-recliner for the baby room.

  • I'm hoping furniture (nice changing table as I hate the one we have) but since we are going to get a new house it may not happen...
  • A nice glider and a video baby monitor.
  • I really hadn't thought about this.  I have no idea what we'll buy for this one.  It really depends on if it's a boy or girl.  Another boy, he'll probably get all hand-me-downs but if it's a girl she'll definately be spoiled with all new stuff.  I think I'll reuse my stroller though either way.

I'm liking the idea of frequent massages too!! :)

  • I plan to splurge on the crib primarily.

    And I love the idea of regular massages! Except, maybe biweekly in the third trimester might be a more realistic goal! ( ;

  • Probably nothing really. I splurged big time with # 1, so I really do have every thing I could want/need. Maybe the BOB dualie if I decide I want it?

Oh and to the OP, save your $$$ on the bedding. Seriously.
