white bedding - am I crazy

https://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3826223

Yes its white....they have a blue one but I am not a fan of the blue. our crib set is expresso and walls are tan and accents of blue throughout the room (including rug, window dressings, etc). I am not into themes and this crisp white/tan concept is throughout our home....

I did register for extra crib sheets in browns and cremes to break it up a little?

thoughts?

Re: white bedding - am I crazy

  • i like white bedding and this set will be nice with espresso furniture. i imagine it will be a bit harder to clean because you can't just bleach it and when blowouts happen (if they do), it might be rough...invest in some spray and wash?

i bought plain white sheets, i have a white rug, i just like white and i'l bleach things as needed to try and keep them that way.

  • I'm actually planning on white sheets because I can easily bleach them.
  • we're going with the bedding also (just not the whole set). i think it will be fine. although you can't just bleach the whole thing, you can spot clean with a bleach detergent/spray.
  • No - I'm seriously contemplating all-white bedding, too. For convenience and because I can't find anything in the colors I'm looking for.
  • I've built quite a few rocker sets in espresso with off-white microfiber suede (looks pretty white) and it's easy to clean and does look really sharp - so I think your white/espresso nursery will look just great.

There's a website, www.babyroombioweebly.com I think, that shows lots of neutral nurseries in whites and tans.

  • I am doing all white bedding, however I am not doing a set.  I considered that set, but decided to go with white breathable bumpers, white sheets and white crib skirt. I think the white looks amazing with espresso furniture.

  • love that bedding, I've noticed it before and always gravitate toward it! I love white because of bleach!! If you cant wash in bleach because of colored piping, just get some of the clorox pens for spot treatments and like PP said, spray and wash. I think you'll find it easier than if the bedding was dark.

  • The only thing I would say is that formula/spitup/breastmilk all stain.  And the stains are usually inconspicuous until several months later. (I have a lot of my son's clothes that were clean/laundered before packing away but now that I'm pulling them out, they are stained from spit up and milk).
Nobody said life would be easy, they just promised it would be worth it.

  • I know that when my DD was young I did not use the quilt that came along with the set cause it was to thick.  The AAP states that thick and fluffy bedding may be the cause of "some" SID cases, so I never used any blackets in my DD crib unless it was a lightweight blanket(receiving blanket) or a light afgan blanket.  Then when daughter was older (6-9mth) i used a thicker blanket.  So I think that your white should stay pretty white, unless your child, spits up, has blow-outs, ect alot. But I think that whatever you choose will be wonderful!

  • I got white bedding for both cribs.

    1) it looks great with dark wood furniture and colored walls

    2) whites are easier to wash and can be bleached if necessary.

All I know is I got a bunch of cutesy colored towels when DH and I got married, and they now have bleachy spots on them from various beauty products and washings. My white towels? Look brand new.

  • DS's bedding isn't all white, just mostly white, with red trim.  Here's what worked for me.  The bumper (yes, we are using it now, because he slams his head against the bars in his sleep) stays in the crib and hasn't gotten dirty.  I washed it once before we put it in, and it stays clean (so far).

We are using a colored sheet (red gingham) although I have some spare white ones that I can bleach if need be.

The quilt is mostly white and doesn't go in the crib.  We use it when we're rocking, and so far, so good with no stains.

Get what you like, and for formula stains, you can use iron-out.  The iron in the formula is what makes such a bad stain.  You just have to be careful and don't mix it with bleach.

  • i don't think it's a crazy idea. but have you considered custom bedding? i never thought it would be possible (i'm not into themes myself) until my girlfriend intro'd me to her custom baby guy. he made all my nursery bedding and curtains and the room is beautiful (of course i think so ;)

email me if you'd like his info.

and seriously, this isn't a plug, i just really never thought this would be possible, his prices are extremely affordable, probably cheaper than you'd pay in the store.

but - the white is beautiful!
