Ectopic Paranoia

I have this paranoia about having an ectopic pregnancy (I haven't had my first Dr. visit yet) and now I'm getting occasional pain in my ovary so that makes me more worried. There's no history of this in my family. I just have this unfounded fear. It's too late to call the doctor tonight. I'm going crazy with worry!

Re: Ectopic Paranoia

  • It's completely normal to get a twinge on one side and not the other, especially from the ovary that you ovulated from.

  • Would it still be wise to call the Dr's. office tomorrow?
  • I freaked out too!  I had a sharp pain just like you described and found out it was a cyst.  Plus, it was also on the same side that I ovulated from.  I have had no problems and so far...cross my fingers things have been going great.  Try not to stress, easier said then done, and good luck!
  • This is fairly normal.  Your uterus is expanding and making room for your little one so it causes cramps and some sharp pains.  Try not to worry too much.  I have also found that when I eat foods that would normally make me a little gassy, it's now ten times worse since I'm prego.  I get the sharp pains and cramps but they go away soon enough.  My advice is to try and relax and take care of yourself as though nothing is bothering you.  That is really all you can do until you get your Dr's insight on the matter.  Hang in there!
  • I did the exact same thing! You have cramps and if you're like me look online and see that's possibly a bad sign and start to freak. Apparently it's normal. I went to the doctor and everything is fine. I recommend if you're losing sleep over this to try and get an earlier appointment - tell them you have cramps and are concerned.

  • I had pain in my ovary for 60 days following my BFP.  My doctor wasn't worried, but I sure was.  I was really nervous about my first u/s because I googled everything!  Try not to worry too much.  Know that ectopics are typically extremely painful, so the occasional pain is probably nothing.

Edit:  I later found out (at my 19 week appt) that I had a corpus luteum cyst that was most likely causing the pain.

  • My doctor sent me for an early u/s because I was experiencing pain on my right side.  She wanted to rule out an ectopic.  I went Saturday and everything was fine!!  I would not worry.  Ectopic pregnancies are very rare.

  • I was having the same symptoms (but on my left side), and they went away.  I was worried about an ectopic as well, and I'm going to mention it at my appointment on Wednesday, but it seems like we are just being worry warts!
  • I had an ectopic with my first pg. Trust me you will know when and if it is and ectopic.  It is stabbing insanely intense pain and it doesnt really pass.  I had heavy bright red bleeding with insane cramps.

I have a high threshold for pain and it had me at a 9 if not 10.

No matter what call your drs office.  I had to and they ended up sending me to the ER.

From what you are saying in your case it doesnt sound like and ectopic.
