MN help for Eloise

Newbie here....My DH and I love Eloise for a girls name, but are trying to decide on a mn. DH wants to honor his very close, deceased grandmother by using the name Gloria.  I think that Gloria Eloise flows better than Eloise Gloria, but prefer Eloise for the first name. What is your opinion?  Does Eloise Gloria (2 syllable last name) sound ok?

Re: MN help for Eloise

  • I think that since it is a family name and has meaning, you should use it as the middle name. Is it the name that "flows" the best with Eloise? No. But I think it definitely sounds okay and LOVE Eloise as a FN. Good luck!

  • I think both sound just fine.

  • I love Eloise.  I think Eloise Gloria is very pretty.  And even if you still think it doesn't flow, just think about how often a first & middle name are actually said together.  Not all that often.  Good luck!

  • Eloise Gloria sounds fine. If you are going to call her Eloise definitely don't pick Gloria Eloise just because it sounds better. Love Eloise BTW!
  • Go with Eloise Gloria. The flow is fine, imo. FWIW, my LO is Eloise Diana (same syllables), and we've never had any issues with the sound of it. GL!
  • I think it's fine, a family connection trumps "flow" IMO, and the flow is fine anyway.

If you prefer you could always use Glory, which is a variant of Gloria.

  • I think that it sounds nice and would be very sweet to use a family name.
