Let me first apologize- I am sure this question gets asked a lot, but I tried to search through old posts and couldn't find any answers.
Can you recommend your o/gyn in the pgh area. I am not very happy with my current doctor and am looking to find someone new. I probably wont be pregnant for a few years, but I figure if I am making the switch now, hopefully it will be to a Dr. that I can be with for a while.
Re: recommend ob/gyn in pittsburgh
If you are looking for a more patient centered practice I strongly reccommend the midwives at Magee. They do all yearly and preventative womens care as well as prenatal care. They also refer directly to some of the best ob's in pgh if there is every a problem either in pregnancy or just general womens issues.
They have 3 offices, 1 in magee, 1 in cranberry and i think the other is in mt. oliver.
I LOVE LOVE them and had wonderful prenatal care and a wonderful birth experience with them.
Zubritsky and Christy they are in the Robinson twp area and St Claire area. There are 2 OB/GYN's most practices have way more, so atleast you know who is delivering your baby. Plus they do NOT deliver at Magee, which from what I hear is a baby factory and understaffed. Some things to think about when choosing a dr- where they deliver and how many of them are there.
Don't think you can go wrong with magee womcare associates. I live 1hr 15mins for magee and have been driving there for the last 2 years just to see am OB. Now i'm driving once a month and will deliver there. We don't know what can go wrong i think its best to be there just in case.
My family and co-workers all think i'm crazy. I would rather be safe than sorry!
Dr. Kridgen and Stern at Womencare Associates... they are awesome! They have offices in the South Hills, Wexford and Magees.
And I agree with the other posters, Magees is the best hospital for delivering your baby!!
I have experiences with Magee Womencare Associates and Century Medical ( Dr. Maria Udrea). I used Womencare for my first pg which ended in a mc. I also had my d&c @ Magee. Personally I really dislike Magee. When I went for my first ultrasound ( due to no heartbeat @ 11weeks) I had to sit in a waiting room with a little circle thing (like you get a resturaunt!) for over 2 hours. I felt like a number @ Magee and also @ Womencare. They never took any of my concerns seriously. I knew I had to find a different dr for my next pg.
I did some research and found Century Medical Associates. They are wonderful. I saw Dr. Udrea every single appointment and she delivered my baby. She listened to all of my concerns and didn't treat me like some idiot. She herself is a mother and I prefer to have a dr that has children of their own. They have offices in the North Hills, downtown, and in West Penn Hospital. There may be more but those are the ones I know off the top of my head.
I delivered at West Penn and it was a great experience. The l&d rooms are HUGE. West Penn has the SAME level Nicu as Magee. The post partum department was great too. The nurses were all very nice and helpful. The room was pretty big and nice as well.
My advice for anyone trying to decide is to call and schedule to go on the hospital tour. I was about 7 months when I went on the tour but there were def. some people at only about 16 weeks on the tour as well. I am pretty sure the number of babies delivered wasn't that a big of difference between Magee and West Penn. I think it was maybe about 100 more deliveries @ Magee.I can't remember for sure cause I did all this research well over a year ago. And again Magee and West Penn have the SAME LEVEL NICU. I personally feel the difference in care was HUGE though.
I agree. I go to their monroeville office. Dr. Goetz delivered my son but I saw all their OBs. They have 6 in all plus other doctors who only do gyn. Dr. Hoca, Dr. Shaheen, and Dr. Hazel are my favorites.
This is the group I used. However, I do not like Dr. Kridgen at all. I LOVED all of the other doctors in the group though. Dr. Lebovitz was my favorite and she ended up being the one who delivered DS.
