Would you paint a crib/bed?

Per my post below, I am thinking of painting Ethan's crib black for buying other furniture to match.  We are thinking of transitioning him soon, and if we painted it wouldn't be using it for a baby, so wouldn't have to worry about teething with the rails.  It has a headboard and footboard that can be used to convert to a full size bed.  Would you have any concerns with painting a bed for a toddler?

    I am not into painting furniture personally.  I just don't think it looks good, and I definitely wouldn't do anything to Ava's crib since it's still in good condition and was expensive.  We recently took it down and I plan on saving it for her.
