I'm admitting that from the begining, it's a totally stupid question.
So I'm reading here that most people who are bfing don't get af for a long time, or if they do, they get it once and then not again for a while. My question is (please don't flame me!) how do you know if you get ku again?? DH is insistent that we ttc again right away (yes, he is slightly insane). I know bf'ing is supposed to be a semi-bc... but we're not even doing the pull and pray- he is full on "trying" already!
(hanging head in shame) so there is my stupid question....
Re: A totally stupid question....
Not stupid at all... because I have no clue!!! I guess you go on feeling?!
ps- Your DH is nuts!!!
This, as well as OMG MrsMiller your DD is freaking adorable!!!!!
hmmm... I don't think it is medically advisable to get pregnant within a year of having a c/s. And perhaps your DH should swing by my house during witching hour with out teething & completely insane 5 month old adjusted daughter & he would re-think the whole 2 under 1 idea.
a bfing, cding, wah momma Congrats to my buddies Tiffanylaw06, Jeny M & burghbaby!
I think most women do not ovulate when BFing so it's unlikely that you'll get KU but some women do. So I guess go on symptoms and maybe POAS once every 6 weeks or so just to be sure. I can't imagine trying already but more power to you! You make beautiful babies.
Oh, and I also read that charting is not very effective until your cycles restart in a somewhat normal pattern. So we aren't charting yet since AF has not returned.
You really should talk to your OB... after a c/s, your body needs some extra time to heal. My doc said we should wait 6 months before trying... we do plan to try sometime around when our LO is 6-9 mos old because we're not getting any younger, and you never know how long everything will take, but I wouldn't even think of it before then.
Also, BF is NOT an effective form of birth control. A lactation specialist told me the only way it can be effective is if you NEVER supplement, and never go longer than 4-5 hours without nursing. Which in the beginning may be the case, but hopefully not later...
I think there are some clues if you get pregnant, your supply drops dramatically is a big one. I can tell you that I don't think that I ovulated until December and I had a March baby. And when I ovulated, my breasts HURT, and I mean HURT, when EC nursed. It felt like she was ripping off my nipple, pain.
But if I were you, I would POAS every couple of weeks.
