Multiples

BRU multiples discount and a ? about convert. car seats.

We haven't bought any eligible items on our own yet to get the BRU multiples discount.  Is it 10% off the whole purchase or 10% off each item?

They're doing that trade-in deal right now...and DH and I are debating taking in their infant seats to go ahead and get convertible ones.  Seems like a way off that they'll NEED them, but we're trying to decide if the money saved is worth it.  Because if I'm reading the flyer correctly, if we brought the 2 seats in, we'd get 25% off EACH new convert. seat we buy.  That seems like a pretty good deal...BUT our babies are also only 5 1/2 months, so the infant seats still come in handy when we go out to eat.  We don't use them in our stroller though (we have a sbs) so it's hard to say if the carriers are a necessity for us.

Thoughts or opinions on that one?? :)  When did your babies switch to a convertible seat?

Re: BRU multiples discount and a ? about convert. car seats.

  • We switched our babies at 7.5 months. Alex was just over 21 lbs so we figured we should go ahead and switch.

From what I've heard, BRU's policies may vary somewhat from store to store. At my store, the multiples discount is 10% off any item over $60 which you buy two or more of for your multiples. When I bought our Snugrides, I was able to combine the multiples discount with our registry completion coupon and a 15% off one item coupon plus a 20% off one item coupon to get our $99.99 Snugrides for $63 and $68, respectively. Hopefully your BRU will also let you stack coupons and discounts! :)

I would actually hold off though on trading in your infant seats if you're still using them. I would think you could get a similar amount of money by selling them on Craigslist and that way you could get several more months' use out of them.

  • Thanks.

I am also looking around and is there a chance we wouldn't need convertible seats?  My girlfriend's boy outgrew his infant seat before 1 year, but he was significantly bigger than either of our babies.  So could mine, in theory, fit in theirs until moving to a "carseat" and skip the convert?

  • In theory, but quite possibly as they get older they'll get frustrated with their infant seats and want to be more upright. That was true of my boys by the time we switched (7.5 months). Plus the AAP recommends rear-facing till age 2. (I know not everyone chooses to follow that guideline and I think state laws vary, but it's good to be aware of.)

  • I love my infant seats and couldn't imagine getting rid of them this early.  In fact, we just switched one DD to her convertible seat because she was near the height/weight limit.  My other DD is still in hers because she has a little way to go.  For me, it just made carrying them so much easier.  Now, logistics are getting more complicated with one in a seat and one not and will be even more complicated when they are both in convertibles.  FWIW, I think I've seen this trade in event at least once before so you may want to ask about how often they have them.  Also, depending on what seats you're looking for, you can find good deals online.  We wound up getting Britax Boulevards for probably $80 off a piece from albeebaby.com and with free shipping.
