  • Yes. Just not mine.
  • According to what I read and hear other moms in real life say, most definitely.

DD can easily sleep for 12hrs without waking up, and I Know not everyone can say this.

  • Yes.  Word on the street is that I was a terrible sleeper as a baby and that DH was awesome and slept 12 hours a night from the time he was 6 weeks old - thank goodness DS didn't take after me.
  • absolutely!  One of our girls will go all night, and the other wakes up a few times.
  • Absolutely.  My older daughter was a champion sleeper - I never had problems getting her down for the night, and she would nap for 1 1/2 to 2 hours 3 times a day.  She's 16 and will STILL nap every afternoon!

Chloe is the exact opposite.  Naps are only a half hour unless I lay down with her in my bed - then she'll sleep 1 1/2 to 2 hours, but I get nothing done.  Bedtime requires 10 minutes or so of crying many nights, and no matter what time I put her down for the night, she is awake between 5:45 and 6:30.

  • Without a doubt.
  • Yes. And sometimes they go through phases. Tonight is not a typical night for us, thank the lord.
  • Yes but I think it is a combination of child's personality being more apt to sleep + consistent parenting and finding a good/right routine.

Grant was sleeping 3-4 hour stretches from the first day we brought him home from the hospital. At six weeks we decided to start a routine with infant massage/oils plus an earlier bedtime (like three hours earlier than he had been 'going to bed').

The first time we did that, he slept 6 hours straight, then 8, then 10, then 12. So ... if we hadn't done that, I don't think he would have started STTN as quickly as he did. Had he fallen into a shorter sleeping cycle or an over-tired domino effect - maybe we would have never got to that point.

  • For sure.

Just like some adults are better sleeper than others.

  • Definitely. I have tried every single trick there is & DD still sleeps like crap.
