Rec your cloth diaper

DS has this irritation on his balls, base of his penis and it goes up to his stomach were his diaper fastens.  We have tried switching diapers, we started with costco, switched to huggies pure and natural, then to pampers cruisers and lastly to huggies movers....and no luck.  This irritation started when he became active so I am thinking it is from the diaper rubbing him.  I have tried every lotion under the sun: California baby, aquaphor, desitin, cornstarch powder, aveeno baby and balmex.  It will start to clear up then come back.

I'm going to call the pedi tomorrow but I thought I'd also try cloth diapers at home in the evenings to help things air out.  Can you rec your cloth diaper.  I need one that will let him air out but pee won't get everywhere either.  Right now we are using gerber training underwear....thankfully he hasn't peed during air out time but I am sure it is only a matter of time.  Thanks!

  • I use prefold indian or chinese with a diaper cover.  I like that I can use one cover all day unless she gets poop on the legs.  Most people like bum genius for all in ones (where it's like a sposie except you wash it).  Jillian's drawers have something where you can try a bunch of different types.  Oh and the covers I like are thirsties.
  • We have Bum Genius one size, Bum Genius organic all in one, Happy Heiny and Fuzzi bunz.  All but the organic are pockets and have lining that pull moisture away from the skin.  My favorite is the BG organic though because it's very trim fitting.  I just use a fleece liner with it to help keep him dry.

  • we use kissaluvs with thirsties covers and sposo-easy AIO.

i would start with just trying the chinese prefold with cover first since it's really cheap and go from there.

poor guy - i hope it's better soon!  gl.

  • Bububebes are my favorite and if you put the nighttime liner in you could easily use it without a cover (so it's breathable) for awhile. I will let DD run around without a cover at home and sometimes even during her nap. Definitely a much better option then just underwear! They are a little spendy, but worth it, imo. Goodmamas are comparable.
  • We use mostly Bum Genius 3.0 pockets and love them.  You could always just buy a yard of fleece and cut it up into diaper sizes and use those as liners with your disposable diapers.  I use fleece liners even with the cloth diapers when we have to use cream.  Just make sure to wash them with a free and clear detergent so that doesn't irritate him.  Good luck and hope he feels better soon!
  • Bum Genius Organic All In One and I LOVE them!

  • We use Bum Genius and Fuzzi Bunz. <3 them
  • We have a bazillion different kinds. (It seems anyway) My favorites are Fuzzi Bunz and BG pockets. We also have prefolds and fitteds (bububebe's).

For airing out (typically at night)...we'll often put Em in just a prefold (no cover) and keep our eye on her:) If she feels a little wet...we change her. (This is for short bursts of time when we don't want her diaperless) We also use bububebe's for the same purpose...but these (as pp mentioned) ofter a bit more protection.
