Help...I think DS just swallowed...

A VERY small little rhinestone. I was sitting next to him and he picked up something and put it in his mouth. I grabbed him, swept his mouth and didn't find anything. I wasn't too worried b/c this is a well baby proofed room. So, I was given a small cross yesterday with some very small little rhinestones on it. I was putting it away and noticed it was missing a rhinestone. I had opened it sitting on my couch near where DS "ate something" and I have a really bad feelign that the rhinestone might have fallen off while I was opening it and DS just ate it

OMG I feel terrible. It was super super tiny. We have a pedi appt tomorrow but I don't know if I should try calling today. I feel horrible

I imagine it will pass through, but could it get stuck in his digestive system?

I would call the doctor. I'm sure he's going to say that you have to wait it out, but just to be on the safe side...

I think it will probably just pass through if it was really small, but I would call the pedi to make sure they don't want to see him and do an xray or something.

Hope it just passes through with no problems

If he did swallow it, it will most likely just come out the other end in a day or two. You could call the pedi if you are very worried, but I think they will just tell you to wait.

Another lady on here posted a few weeks ago that her child swallowed a marble - it came out on its own.

Pretty much this. DD ate a few tiny stones out of a plant last week. She pooped them right out the next day. I didn't even bother calling her doctor, but maybe I'm a bad parent Stick out tongue

Don't worry - your DS will be fine! DD swallowed a small bead that she pulled off a Christmas decoration last month and her pedi said if it gets down her throat, it will just pass through. The real hazard is choking, but obviously your DS didn't choke, so no big deal. Don't beat yourself up, Mama, kids swallow stuff - not your fault!
