Parenting after 35

Won't sleep for more than and hour at a time

Poor, poor Matty has a bad cold and ear infection. He is fine during the day - super happy not a care in the world. But at night he will sleep from 8-12 and then after that he will wake up crying every hour sometimes even more.

When he gets picked up he is almost fine (still cries a little). If I nurse him he is great but as soon as I put him down he cries again.

After the third get up between 5:30-6:30 I brought up the swing from the basement. That work immediatley. I am seriously cosidering having him sleep in the swing tonight next to my bed.

  • We had the same problem. It lasted three weeks. Brutal. I hope Matt feels better soon!

  • Sounds like Maddie when she had her cold. I wound up just bringing her to bed and letting her nurse whenever she wanted. It went on for about a week. Bringing the swing into your room for him to sleep sounds like a great idea. Maybe it keeps him just upright enough for his sinuses to drain so he can breathe.

That's what I was thinking. Poor little guy.

  • Poor little M :(

Sleep is good for healing so I vote for the swing!

  • Do you use a humidifier?
  • The humidifier might help, and I love the swing idea.

No - but we should. I had been meaning to buy one of those waterless ones to prevent bacteria but never got around to it.  I am going to run the steam shower tonight and see if that helps.
