Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

What kind of blanket are you using in you LO's crib?

We still have DD in sleepsacks and we want to start using a blanket to cover her in her crib once she outgrows her last sleepsacks in the next few weeks or so.

Are you just using the thin carters type blankets or are there special blankets made for sleeping?

TIA!

  • We just have regular big blankets in there. They aren't comforter thickness or anything, but they aren't especially thin. I think your ticker said your DD is 17 months? At this point I really doubt there is any danger from a normal blanket :)

  • We use DS's crib quilt. I washed it a few times and it is much softer now. He loves it.

  • I have been using a quilt that came with the set & any other type of baby blanket for a while.

  • The only thing I have put in there overnight has been a Breathable Blanket and sometimes at nap time I put in a small crib quit a friend made.

  • My DD still sleeps in a sleepsack.  She is a very active sleeper and it is just easier.  We also have a blanket in the crib.  It is a blanket that my aunt crocheted for her.  Sometimes she sleeps with it like a normal blanket but most of the time she is either hugging it or it is balled up at the end of the crib.

  • Thanks Ladies!  DD is 17 months old and we have put off putting a blanket in the crib.  I need to suck it up and just do it already;)

  • DD sleeps with three blankets. She sleeps with a pink and green fleece blanket she's had since she was a newborn, one of my cotton baby blankets, and a cotton blanket that my aunt made for her with fleece backing.

I know, it's hard to know when the right time for all this stuff is!

If it helps at all, DS has slept with those little "lovey" type blankies since he was around 6 months, and recently (maybe a month ago) we started giving him two normal sized blankets. We've had no problems at all :)

He still doesn't actually cover up with them (and we're in Texas so it doesn't really matter), but he LOVES having them in there. When he wakes up in the morning he'll actually stay in there and play with them for awhile. This morning I came to get him up a little earlier than normal and he didn't want to get out of his crib, lol!

  • We've always used a knit baby blanket in DS's crib. He's never had a problem with it.

  • One of my mom's friends made a small quilt for DS, so we have that in there. It's heavy enough to keep him warm (if he'd ever keep it on, that is), but not so big that it takes up half the crib.

  • We use a knit baby blanket in there, too.

  • You know, Halo makes early walker sleepsacks for toddlers.
