She told me that if I let her vacuum my carpet I get free bottle of Glade. She said it was for a contest at her work and it was boys VS girls. I looked outside & there was another women sitting in a running beat-up mini-van.
"I told he NO, my child is asleep & I don't need my floor swept". She then tried to stick her foot inside my door & she said "I will just sweep this small part right here". I took my leg & pushed her leg back outside & said "I don't know you, you are not allowed in my house". I then locked the door & called the other neighbors & they called a non-emergency police #.
If you would of seen this women you yourself (hopefully) would of known something was up. Although, there are a few morons on my street who would of let her in!
I have a feeling she wanted to scout my house out for a future robbery. OR if I let her sweep my entire home, she would of pocketed my stuff!
Hell no sista. I was glad my DH was upstairs!!!!!!!

This exactly. That's creepy!
This exactly, although they are harmless- no one will stay at our door for more than a few seconds!
Even if it wasn't a scam, that's super pushy to just invite yourself in anyway. Good thing you're a good neighbor and let others know!
A similar thing happened to my friend but she is so friendly and trusting that she let the guy in! He told her that he was driving around the neighborhood and noticed that she had children (um HELLO! At this point I would have slammed the door!) and wondered if he could come in and talk to her about selling some children's books.?
So she let him in (!) and he then continued to ask her if she always that that morning off of work, how old her son was, what her husband did for work, etc. At this point she finally started to get worried but he was already inside. Luckily he did talk to her about books and then left (giving her a a card w/ his name and phone # in case she wanted to order some). She called the police station and it turns out he does have a peddler's license and is legit but still!
She was so freaked out she had our boss change her work schedule and had told all of her neighbors (who are all retired and at home) to keep a look out for her. ?
How scary, good thing you were able to stand up to her!?
I would have told her I have the $2.50 in my couch to buy a bottle of Glade if I was that desperate
Years ago a guy came to my Grandma's rural farmhouse and told her she won a vaccuum and offered to come in and set it up for her. There was another man in an old van in the drive. She said, "Hell no, get off my property." These two men were responsible for many burglaries in the area. The 1st man goes in and scouts the interior while the 2nd man scouted the outside for a point of entry. Scary stuff.
Good move!
That's crazy! Glad you were able to get rid of her. I totally won't answer my door if it's someone I don't know. Well, unless it is kids in the neighborhood selling girl scout cookies or various other things for schools!
I came home from work last week and there was a truck driving up and down our street. I pulled in to our driveway and opened the garage door. I swear the next thing I knew there was a crazy looking man walking IN my garage! I was in the car still with DD so I locked the doors. Luckily, DH was home and came out to talk to him. The guy was selling trees (yes in the middle of January and it was about 9 degrees outside). DH got his card and got rid of him but it freaked me out. I did not like how he just walked in to our garage.
DH called our neighbor who is a detective and sure enough the guy has a warrant out for stealing trees from a nursery! So basically he stole the trees and was trying to unload them before he got caught. What a moron. We haven't seen him around since but that kind of crap puts me on high alert!
We have all kinds of crazies from time to time, so I quit answering the door. If DH is home and wants to answer, he can go ahead. (Cleaning supplies people and "students" selling things that look way too old to be in school)
