PW (sorry, this should be the last): silly bedrest question

When the doc sent me home yesterday he said I am on modified bedrest.  He said I need to stick to the couch or the bed and that I can get up to go to the bathroom, take a shower, or fix a quick bite to eat.  I didn't think to ask, and I know this is a silly question, but should I be laying all the time?  I am on the couch with me feet up but not really laying down.  Am I defeating the purpose by not laying?

TIA!

  • As long as you are taking it easy, it's fine to sit up!

  • When I was on bedrest from 28w to 36w, my OB said to make sure I am off of my feet 70% of the time. That could mean sitting on the couch with my feet up, or laying down.

I wound up taking advantage of the time and took naps, since I am now getting little to no sleep.

Bedrest stinks, but it's definitely worth it! GL!

  • That's all you need to worry about and when laying do it mostly on your left side.
