Speaking of screamy babies---TMI question for Moms of girls

Mols has been super fussy today and when I changed her diaper she had some sort of gross greenish discharge. I brushed it off thinking that it was a one time thing, but when I just changed her now it was there too.

Anyone else have this happen? I'm going to call the pedi, but I was just curious as to if this happened to anyone else and what it was...

  • From what I understand, its normal, for baby girls to have "discharge" Especially when they are really young. I'm not sure about the greenness of it, I have heard of red discharge.

    Good luck

  • not poop, i'm assuming.

could be a sign of an infection.

This... I've never heard of greenish discharge in any female. Definitely call the pedi.

this is generally right after birth.  it is the mom's hormones leaving the body.  it is generally not green, but looks like regular vaginal discharge.

  • DD had some white-ish/yellowish discharge that we ended up taking her to the pedi for.  The dr. said it was normal, but I'd still call if happened to DD again.

Yes, but I have seen it in little girls as old as 16 months. I worked in a child care as a strider teacher ages 1-2. We saw it with a couple of the little girls. We of course checked for sexual abuse first, but the director of the program was a pediatrician and said that it was normal.

  • I would think maybe some kind of infection. Has she just been fussy today? Maybe it is bugging her? Hope you she stops being fussy soon.

  • Nope, never had that. Id definitely get it checked out.
  • If it isn't poop, I would definitely call the pedi. Good luck.
