Pregnant after a Loss

My Snow Day: Gave in to DH

So I gave in to DH yesterday and went for a walk in the snow. Freakin cold, wet, and the walk was hilly. My dad dropped us off about a mile from the house at a mexican resturant and we ate and walked home. Fat pregnant girl + walking in 6 inches now + just eating mexican = really awkward situation!!! Needless to say, LO decided to settle on my bladder and colon at the same time, if that's possible, not to mention I couldn't feel my legs and DH had to yank my boots off rather quickly in order for me to make a mad dash to the bathroom! It was entertaining to say the least!

So we decided to sit down and watch some live birth videos since I have been putting it off and we won't be able to go to birthing classes since this area sucks with accommodating people with lives (1 class on Tue and Thur for 3 weeks, that's all that they do). I have decided I want ALL the pain meds possible!!! Holy Cow, yes this was my first time seeing a baby come out of a vag! I have to say, I like my attitude, Ingorance is Bliss!!! I've decided I'll just deal at the time.

I did see some videos on the Newborn Infant Crawl, or whatever it's called. It is where as soon as the baby is born, they put LO on your chest. The baby then moves slowly towards your nipple out of instinct. Kind of fascinating.

Re: My Snow Day: Gave in to DH

  • Stop...you're scaring me! I want to go natural but you're making it sound awful. Do they show that kind of stuff in child birth classes??? Yikes. I am not ready.

  • The 1st time I watched a birthing video I cried. I'm pretty terrified of giving birth. DH thinks my reaction to it is funny...I do not!
  • I got a real chuckle out of you walking home after Mexican!  I'm only in my 8th week and every time I don't feel well, DH suggests a walk.  I can't make him understand that I'm TIRED!  And walking around the block, especially with the chilly weather we are having today, is NOT going to help things.

Good luck with birth.  I have a friend who swore up and down she was going natural and was so excited to give birth in a tub of water.  Her first was a C-section and she was so disappointed she didn't get to experience it.  She just had her second and now loves epidurals - she said it was the best thing in the world to her.

  • I'm sorry, but watching it was horrible for me! I know every birth is different and every experience is different because of pain tolerance, but dang. The first video I looked up, it started with cutting the vag. That did it for me already! I did cry some, but I think I was just in total shock of how painful it looked. I was thinking, "If they had shown me this in health class, I would have NEVER had sex!!!" I'm just going to go in and let whatever happen happen, but no more videos or anything for me. Like I said before, ignorance is bliss! DH says, "It's not that bad!" SHUT UP! DID YOU JUST SEE THE SAME VIDEO I SAW? I bet you'd be singing a different tune if someone went to cutting on your precious jewels in order for a cantaloupe to come out of a hole the size of a grape! I'm terrified! Bring on the c-section, I'm not going to object. And give me the drugs!
