BRU trade-in event

Anyone doing this or done it before? I can call the store to ask, but thought I'd ask here. I read the fine print and it doesn't really tell you much. So I can just bring in any of the specified brands/products and get 25% off of a new specified product?

I was in a car accident a few months ago and we were waiting for the insurance check to come in to cover a new seat. We got it. I've been using the extra one we had in DH's car since the accident (I was not hurt and even though DS was not in the car, I was told we should replace the seat). So we want to trade in the car seat from the accident for a new seat.

Good timing because we were thinking about getting the Graco Nautilus seat that is a 5 pt harness, back booster (with and without 5 pt harness), and backless booster. Once we get that, we are set on car seats for both kids from here on out!

Re: BRU trade-in event

  • I work for an auto ins company.  You should not use or trade in ANY carseat that has been in an accident ever.  That's why they pay for you to get a new one.  Unsafe for real.

  • The BRU trade-in is to get rid of old or dangerous items. The item you bring in doesn't even have to have a brand name and you can get 25% off the participating brands. Its not like BRU is getting all this old crap and giving it to people, they are destroying it. They even encourage you to look at second hand stores to pick up something cheap and bring it in.

  • Yea, that is what I thought - they will not re-sell or give away the stuff we bring in. The point is to get unsafe stuff off the market.

that is a good idea - buy a $5 high chair at a consignment store and save 25% on a $150 car seat!

  • I had heard that for this specific trade-in event that they were going to donate it all to the Haiti relief.... Maybe you should call and make sure that they plan to destroy the old car seat before you trade it in, just in case they plan to send them.
