Best stroller option for twins?

Hi everyone!

I was wondering what everyone's take on strollers for twins is.  There are SO MANY options out there, it's impossible to know what the right choice is.  I'm leaning toward one of the travel systems where the car seat fits into the stroller, but I'm getting a little frustrated that a lot of them are geared toward children of different ages and only allow for one car seat.  Has anyone found any fantastic strollers?  If so, could you point me to where you got it?

Thanks!

Leslie

  • My best friend just had twins and now I'm expecting them too!  Surprise, surprise!  She's been informing me on everything that I will need and not need.

With strollers, she said that you need to go ahead and get two.  First, worry about them as newborns, and for that you will want a stroller that has detachable car seats.  She said it's too hard to take them out of the car seat when they are you and put them in a separate stroller. (especially if they are sleeping and you're going to the Dr. or something)  But, eventually, they grow out of that and you'll want a side by side one.  The one in front of the other is probably more compact, but I don't really think that it's fair for one to see what's going on and the other not to.

I've been lucky, I'm getting both strollers, handed down, from separate people.  If cost is an issue, be looking on Craigslist, or go to a Mom's of Multiples sale.  My friend said that they got a $400 stroller there for $70.  You can always get the one for infants and then resell it when you need the other and they've outgrown it.

Hope this helps!  Good luck and congrats. :)

  • we are still using the DSNG (double snap n go) and i am dreading the day we grow out of it. check MoM sales and craigslist for a good deal.....
  • I just got the City Select and LOVE it!!!

If that is too expensive- the Kolcraft Options is a great choice for a tandem- it does most of the same things the City Select does- it's just a lot longer- and a much better price :)  I have one, too (will be selling it now) and think it's an awesome stroller for the money - drives really nice, does a ton of things- and you don't need a DSNG if you have one.

having a DSNG is important if your stroller doesn't take 2 infant seats... it's so easy to use early on.

  • I went to the store dead set on the Bumbleride Indie Twin that I had been gazing at online for 5 months. I left with the City Select!
  • I'm in love with my Bumbleride Indie Twin.  When they were tiny, we did have to move them from the carseats to the stroller, but we never really had an issue - we'd move them super carefully and they'd stir, but go back to sleep.  Now that they're older, they have a more set nap time (sometimes...) but it's easier and we can still pretty much move them with hardly waking them up.

It's the best on walks and everything.  I love it.
