Does one baby move more than the other?

If so, is that normal?  One of mine seems to be more active than the other. But maybe it's just a positioning issue, I don't know.  My next apt. is Thursday, so I'll bring it up then (also my first NST), but I was just wondering if anyone here knew the answer to this question in the meantime...thanks!

Re: Does one baby move more than the other?

  • I think its due to positioning. I feel one way more than the other even though they are both really active on u/s.  Also they could be positioned so that you think you are only feeling on, but one has its feet in the same place and you are actually feeling both. Mine were like that for a while.

  • I have felt very little movement because I'm only 15 weeks along.. but the four times I felt movement was always on the lower left side.  I'm hoping that I feel something on the right side soon!
  • Baby B since week 12 has been shooting all over the screen during my ultrasounds!  Baby A moves on them, but Baby B always takes longer to get pictures of b/c she is constantly moving!  All my pics of her so far are a big blur!  It's become a whole joke with my DH and I- we are actually trying to think of a name that fits her b/c she's crazy on those screens!  I'm just starting to feel movements, we'll see what that's like.

I never thought to ask if it was a problem.  Baby A definitely moves around, she's just not quite so spastic!  I know with moms of singletons who told me some of their kids moved around more than others, so I've never been concerned.

  • In the beginning, I was feeling much more movement from baby B than A although they were both very active on the ultrasound.  In the last few days I started feeling baby A kick a lot more, but I was feeling hardly anything from B.  Yesterday I started to get really worried, so I called my OB and he had me go over to labor and delivery to get checked out, just to be on the safe side.  Turns out, both babies were super active...baby B has just changed positions a little so his kicks are kind of blending in with baby A's.  Long story short...it's totally normal to feel one more than the other.  But if you're ever worried, don't be afraid to get it checked out...stress isnt good for you or the babies, and you'll be able to relax afterwards!
  • It could be positioning and it could also be their personality.  My baby A moves a lot less than B.  B just won't stop moving, always doing something.  I asked my Dr. about it and he said that some babies are just lazier than others Stick out tongue  and that as long as they are both developing normally and growing on schedule, it doesn't really matter.  I was also told that as long as I feel A a few times a day, then it is ok.   I have a feeling it more of a personality thing than positioning because when A does move, I certainly feel him.

  • I think it's normal I feel two of mine much more than the other two.  It's probaby positioning and maybe something to do with where the placenta is?

  • I always feel baby B less than A.  She has an anterior placenta, so I think her movements are different than A.  I feel like he is going to punch through my skin, with her I feel more rolling and positioning, but much less.  its always been like that so I have learned to let it go.  especially cause she is always nuts when we go for an u/s.  I would ask just to set your mind at ease, but I think its just positioning.
