My best friend had twins and refused to show me her belly when she found out that I was having twins too. She complained about it all the time after she gave birth, saying how horrible it was and how she didn't want to have sex for nearly four months after her pregnancy. Now, she's doing hooping classes to tighten everything up and looks great with cloths. She breastfed for about 3 weeks but hated it, and she also put on a lot of weight by eating poorly during the 9 months.
She finally showed it to me, and it did scare me. She's thinning up well, but there is a lot of loose skin and tons of wrinkles. Her babies are only 5 months old, and she's not going to consider surgery until one year has passed since their birth.
I'm just wondering how long it takes to get back to square one. I'm also wondering if breastfeeding really helps to pull everything back in after birth. I plan on doing it for 6 month.. but she said it was really time consuming with twins. I don't want to be vain, but I am worried that my body will never be near the same again. I love to swim and I teach dance class... it's been on my mind the last few days.
Re: Will I ever get my tight belly back?
everyone is different. I don't have any loose skin or wrinkles or stretch marks, but I used to have a flat stomach and now I don't!....I am sure one day it will go back to being flatter...but it will take time!.
I think it depends on your body and your skin type....and if you were fit before, you will probably bounce back quicker!
I'm back to my old stomach. I breastfed for a month (and then my supply disappeared). No stretch marks (except a few on my chest), no loose skin, no wrinkles. GL!
Is is okay that I hate you???
Hello, I was worried about the same thing in the very beginning. I wish I didn't worry about it, but I did. I know that this isn't the norm, but I was in a bikini 2 1/2 months after my babies. I'm back in my size 2's now. It took a few months before I fit back into my pants, but eventually, I got there. I also thank my mom (genetics) for the lack of stretch marks. Everyone is different and I don't think that anybody would think twice if there was a little extra skin or a strechie or two. I would gladly have an extra 20lbs on me just to have these boys :-)
Enjoy your pregnancy and try not to worry about it :-)
I still have a little lower pooch but its not loose skin, its more like distended stomach muscles. My trainer says it will go away.
if it was summer, i'd wear my bikini. but then again, i wore a bikini my entire pregnancy...i guess nothing stops me.
If it makes you feel better, my boobs are nothing like they used to be!

Here is a great website with a twins section. You will see that there is some bad and some good.
For me, I gained 65lbs with my twins and lost 50 of it within 2 weeks. I am still 10lbs over my PP weight. I was left with extra skin and stretchmarks. Oh well...God bless the inventor of the Tankini
I think this is how I'd describe my belly. My stretch marks have faded considerably, I figure they'll be basically gone before too long (fingers crossed).
In my opinion, I look pretty good bare-belly if I'm standing...it's when I bend over or sit that I'm more self-conscious and unhappy with it. LIke skin hangs over...you can tell it's not fat, but is just skin. I'm hoping this will change...but I'm pretty much figuring I'll be in a tankini this summer!! Maybe next summer I'll be back to normal...
I am 35 and carried to 39 weeks 6 days and gained 45lbs. I have lost all the weight and still have a ton of extra skin. I have stretch marks too. I am still breastfeeding and was doing so exclusively until 4 months. I think that BFing helped with weight loss in the first couple of weeks and it certainly lets me cheat on a diet but I don't think it has a huge impact on long term weight loss.
I'm not quite there, yet... it's hard to look in the mirror sometimes. I have the lot - stretch marks, some loose skin & wrinkles & no flat stomach hiding underneath.
That said, my mom had twins too (and gained a ton of unhealthy weight) & it took her over 6 mths to get back her belly.
I have to say, I could blame my absence at the gym on taking care of the twins & being busy and all, but I'm just plain lazy - I'm certain I can find some time during the week to go! For the moment (until I manage to kick myself in the butt to go), I try to throw in some crunches at home.
I had triplets 7 weeks ago and lost all the weight and then some. HOWEVER, my stomach skin sags and hangs something serious. There are stretch marks all over it and it is pretty nasty. It won't be the same again unless I have a tummy tuck. Everyone is different and you could end up looking great afterwards.
