PSA: GBMC revised visitor policy

Oh happy day!  As you remember, GBMC had one of the stricter visiting rules in the area because of H1N1, starting back in October....only your significant other and one VIP guest and no changing guests out, even in post partum.  I just was looking on my OB's website and saw the revisions noted to the GBMC visitor policy.  In case you haven't seen it yet, just wanted to share for those delivering there...makes me happy today! 

Also, I just called L&D and they said that they are now doing tours again for L&D, which was previously banned during the fall because of H1N1.

Visitor Policy
In an effort to protect the health and safety of patients and staff at GBMC during this flu season, the temporary visitor policy for Labor and Delivery and Postpartum units was revised on January 8th. Many of the previous restrictions have been relaxed due to a decrease in the incidence of influenza infections in our community. https://www.csobgyn.com/pdf/Visitor_Policy_Jan_8.pdf

    Any idea if St. Joe's lifted their's too? I know they tend to be more lenient than GBMC and it doesn't seem to have any mention of it on their site now!

    No idea about St. Joes...sorry!  Did you try to call L&D?

    Sorry all---I just noticed on the link I posted, it is now missing the first page.  If you go to GBMC's main page, it lists the new visitor policy.

    a friend of mine is a social worker at St. Joe's and as of a couple of weeks ago they had lifted the H1N1 policy.  You will want to call and see what the new policy is.  GBMC did not go back to their old one but a modified version.

    If anyone is delivering at Upper Chesapeake, they also have lifted the policy and are allowing visitors and tours again.

    Any idea when they go back to the Flu rules?? I am due in August and am wondering if these rules will still be the same then... Thanks for the info!!

    I am not sure if they do this every year with the flu.  I was under the impression this year was different with H1N1.  Those visiting restrictions started in October of last year and were lifted in January.  I would think that a baby being born in August would be okay! :)
