My poor little girl is constipated for the second time. She hasn't gone since Tuesday afternoon (she's formula fed - I know that breastfed babies can go much longer and it's fine). Today she is so fussy, her tummy is hard, and she sticks her legs out and screams. She's been tooting up a storm but no poop.
I gave her a warm bath.
Massaged her tummy, bicycled her legs.
Gave her lactalose like my pharmacist recommended.
Still nothing. Poor baby
It breaks my heart
She's on similac right now-the concentrate you add water to. The doctor said I had to give her that until one month, since it's sterile and powdered formula is not.
I wonder if it's her formula and I can't wait to switch her over to the powdered stuff to see if it helps at all.
Re: Any tricks for constipation??
My LO takes similac powder and it does not help the constipation!
My LO hadn't pooped in 36 hours and he was uncomfortable too so we took him to the doctor. The doctor stuck his pinky finger in LO's butt and out came all the poop, then he told us to give him an ounce of prunce juice mixed with an ounce of water twice a day (or suplement one ounce of formula for one ounce of prune juice in the bottle). It works wonders and he poops like a champ now!
we tried that before we went to the doctor (rectal temp) and it did nothing because the thermometer wasn't big enough to stimulate a bowel movement.
