When something sounds too good to be true... it probably is, right?
I went to a local MoM's meeting last night, and one of the ladies who just had triplets asked me if I had looked into Aflac for supplementary insurance. I said, no, and she told me that they sent her money every time she was on bed rest, child in the NICU, well baby appts, etc. She ended up with $20k and she only pays $160/month.
So, if I took supplemental insurance to cover what was left of my actual bills after my primary insurance paid, why would I expect a payout in any amount?
Is this a scam?
Re: Aflac? Got some bizarre advice last night...
I asked an aflac guy about this. Sounds like your friend had several of the supplemental policies that the aflac guy told me about. It's not a scam, but I believe you have to have had the policy for 10 months in order to use it on anything related to a pregnancy. (In other words, once you're already pregnant, it's too late.)
Okay thanks. She did mention that her husband had to fly to CA (from TX) to sign the paperwork since CA recognized coverage same day, rather than 8-10 weeks. It probably varies from state to state.
Too late for me, I guess!

I had two policies, one for disability for me and then NICU, ICU Hospital coverage.
with all three babies, I got close to 200,0000. yes it is worth it. They pay you directly and not the hospital doctors etc and it is not taxable.
I don't post here much as I don't have time with the 3 kids, but I figured I would let you know.
MH is an Aflac agent in here in NJ. He said "In our state, you can get the hospital coverage while pg, and it will cover any complications from pg but not the delivery itself. Even though Aflac is a Nationwide company, it is the individual states dept of insurance that decides what can be offered."
Hope that helps.
