Graves' disease/hyperthyroid anyone?

So my doc thinks I'm developing Graves' disease, not terrible from the reading I've done, but not fun. Anyone have it? How were you diagnosed? How do you deal with the dizziness and fatigue? How are you treating it?

I'm seeing a specialist in a few weeks, but until then, I feel miserable.

Re: Graves' disease/hyperthyroid anyone?

  • i'm at the opposite end of the spectrum - hypo.

thyriod issues suck.  i hope you can get some answers and some relief.

no one understands the effects it has on you, until they have gone through it.  i didn't realize that fatigue affected both sides...that is the worst.

    good luck.

  • I don't have this...but my DH has graves and hyperthyroid.  He has been on medicines 1 year for it.  It took a couple of years for them to figure out what he had, and a year of messing with meds to get his levels right.  He has gained weight and always feels tired.  He also gets very jumpy and anxious.  Luckily 2 weeks ago he had the thyroid taken out.  He feels better than he has in a long long time.  It was expensive, but so far very worth it.  Sorry not much help from me.  DH isn't home or else I would ask him more.
