Babies on the Brain

FFFC...because I have one.

I don't care if Elizabeth Edwards leaves John Edwards now.  I judge her for sticking around as long as she did and basically teaching her kids that it is okay for men to treat women that way.  Her kids may be young now, but when they grow up they are going to know what really happened.

I hate that she is being hailed as some great example of how women should act when their husband is a douchebag.

If it were possible to have less than 0 respect for someone, that is what I would have for her.  Cancer or not, she should have walked out.

This story angers me beyond belief.

Re: FFFC...because I have one.

  • I feel the same way about all public women figures who stay by their adultering spouses, for the most part

  • Here's mine: I've always known John Edwards was a douche and I'm secretly glad the world is finding out now.  He was a freaking ambulance chaser, not some noble attorney.  It pissed me off when newscasters would call him the "popular young senator" from NC.  Populist, maybe.  The only reason he won the election was b/c he was running against an even scummier hog farmer.

  • It's easy for those of us not in that position to judge but ending a marriage is complicated and hard and emotional. Sometimes ending a marriage is the best thing for the kids, but sometimes it isn't, and it takes time and consideration to make sure you are making the best decision for them.

  • I have another one.  I wouldn't necessarily leave DH if he cheated.  I'd have a lot easier of a time forgiving him if it was physical rather than emotional.

Its not the lack of divorce that bothers me, its the women that stand there and smile and act like everything is okey dokey that bothers me.  Something is wrong, acknowledge it.  It sends a message to girls/women that you should simply put up with that kind of crap.

I don't know if I would leave if he cheated.

If he had an illegitimate child?

I'd be out of there before he could even say a word, because that would mean he definitely put my life at risk by not using protection.

    This too.

She didn't even move out of their house temporarily.  She apparently admitted in an interview that she never left nor did she make him leave.

    That bothers me.

  • I guess my backwards state can finally get one point then? Jenny Sanford (the governor's wife) has been lauded for leaving immediately and not standing by her husband. I haven't heard a single person in this conservative state say anything bad about her. But, then, he did tell the whole world his mistress was his soul mate, so no chance of the marriage working out there.

I'm very conservative, and I definitely think she did the right thing.

There are few things I hate more in this world than men who treat women like shiit.

  • I don't feel like I can judge because while she (or anyone else) may stand there and smile, I have no clue what is going on behing closed doors.

If I was going through the same thing, I would probably smile publically and not run around calling my DH a douchbag to my coworkers, friends etc.  Privately it would be a whole different matter.

  • I have much less respect for Ted Haggard and his wife. After watching her and him on Oprah this week, they both made me extremely angry.

  • 1st off, Jonnie Edwards is a douche, always has been.  And that is coming from a Dem.

2nd, when part of your world crashes in around you, you don't go tearing down the rest of it too.  I think most people who act rashly regret it.  However, writing a book about it, and AWing your life makes me much less sympathic to your situation.

  • Poe, did you read her book? She really didn't get into the affair too much. You can tell it obviously hurt her, but that was about all that she said. She mostly talked about her son Wade, her cancer, and other aspects of her life. I believe she even states in the book if you were hoping for any details and such of the affair, you might as well put the book down.

I won't judge because I can't know their family dynamics. But I know if I had cancer and then found out my husband not only cheated on me while I was struggling with that, but fathered a child with another woman, I'd be out of there in a flash.

    Blank!

Oh come on! He's totally over that homosexual phase! You really can pray the gay away!

    Sadie is not impressed.

No, after watching her on Oprah, I decided not to read it.  It may not have been about the affair, but the timing of it's release is pretty suspect.
