Do pee-pee teepees work and stay on well?

I am super excited about these, I need to decide which pattern to get!  I have heard about so many women getting sprayed while changing their little boys so it seems like a smart invention!

Re: Do pee-pee teepees work and stay on well?

  • I would save money and just use a wipe or wash cloth.  I have girls though, they never sprayed up - but still pee when changed.

  • Nope, use a wash rag.
  • I would just use a wash rag or something of that sort.

Don't know from personal experience though.

  • Even if they worked you hold them over, they don't stay on by themselves, but I would use a washrag so much easier and cheaper.
  • My son has never sprayed my husband or I during diaper changes, and we never cover that area with a washcloth or other product. I think I'd save my money on it. :)

  • Just use the old diaper as a shield, then quickly put the new one in place.  Wait until after the new diaper is on to wrap up the old one.

  • I totally read that wrong.. lol.. I thought you were asking if pee-pees stay on, lol...

For your actual post, I have NO idea. I have never even changed a boys diaper. I heard a rumor that if you just expose them to the air, then cover it up real quick they usually pee. But I am no expert.

  • I don't know from personal experience, but a friend gave birth in December and tried using the teepees only to have her baby boy wiggle and twist so much, he knocks it off and pees all over.

    THIS!!!

You don't want to know how many thousands of diapers I've changed. I worked in 2 daycares, pediatrics, and a group home of 50 diapered developmentally kids and teens.

NEVER had a problem doing it this way!

  • From friends all you do is make sure to tuck it down at the end of each diaper change then open it for a second then lay the diaper back down. It's the cold air that makes them pee. I am not gonna waste my money.

  • I never got them because I heard negative things. Super cute, but using a diaper or a cloth diaper (we already had tons around for burp cloths) work really well. I wouldn't waste the money.

  • We got them as a gift and used them a bit but a wash cloth works much better because they are more absorbant. And we definitely got peed on! But ony for the first few weeks!

  • I dunno about the tee-pees but..

Helpful hint: If you will open the diaper and blow down there, then close the diaper back up they will generally go ahead and pee then if they are going to. The air hitting them is what causes them to "go" once their diaper is open. I did this with both of my nephews (just open, blow, close.. wait.. change :D ) and it worked !! I never got sprayed :)

  • We always used a wipe. Worked just fine.
  • for the little boy i babysat they really didn't do much good. i just used either a wipe or washcloth. anytime he wiggled they toppled off so I just said forget it!
