I know I'm WAY ahead of the game since the party isn't for 4 months, but I'm a wedding planner and I'm all about having things done well in advance, lol!
We're thinking of either BBQ or burgers & hot dogs. I would love to do something fancier, but there will be 45 people there and we just can't afford it. So...we can get BBQ catered or we would be grilling the burgers & dogs during the party (it's at my ILs' house).
My question is: would you rather have BBQ or burgers/hot dogs at a party? Do you think the convenience of having it catered and not having to do much an way of preparations is worth spending a little extra?
Re: What to serve at a 1st birthday party?
IMHO, I would prefer burgers/hot dogs. With that, you don't have to think side dishes... just get a couple bags of chips... even the little ones and everyone can pick their own. You also don't have to worry about utensils.
It seems like a more economical option that everyone loves!
As a guest I would prefer BBQ just because I get invited to so many burgers/hot dog parties.
I don't think burgers and hot dogs are too much prep. A lot of stuff can be done ahead of time. You can work with different sides to make it a little different if there are a lot of cook outs. I would make it myself rather than have catering.
