I am planning to get the Ergo, EJ LOVES being worn when he is fussy and wants some snuggle time and it was a lifesaver when he was sick; we use the moby right now and I totally love it an plan to keep using it for a while more...
I know the Ergo has the infant insert, but since the moby is so successful for us I figured I would just switch to the Ergo when the moby is just not so good for him anymore and when he can be in the Ergo w/o the insert (since I suspect that might be about the same time).
My question...
At what point was your LO ready for the Ergo w/o the infant insert?
Re: Ergo Question
We got our Ergo when Eve was about 8-9 months old. I did a lot of hip carrying with her then. She loved it at first and then we went through a period right around when she started walking that she hated being in it at all. A few months later though, she loved being worn on my back. Keep your eye on CL while you wait for the right time. Maybe you'll get lucky and find one used!
ETA: I didn't know things like the Ergo or Beco or Moby existed until Eve was this age. I did carry her in a baby bjorn (my back still aches from that thing!) from the beginning. I think she was around 4 months when I turned her front facing. That will probably be the age I would carry another one in the Ergo without the infant insert.
I think its mostly about head control and for me when they got to big for the Moby.
I havent tried the boy in mine yet, but I know he could easily go in it.
Also wanted to say I have the Beco and love it. I was sure I wanted the Ergo since its cheaper...but I went to Tiny Tots and tried them boht and for my frame the Beco worked better...
Just wanted to throw that out there
br
I did try them both on at tiny tots and the ergo gave me better support for my hip and back, the becco was great but the lower band was just a little less support for me, might be partly because I have a long torso.

EJ is growing up too fast!
Ok, thanks ladies!!!
EJ is freakishly strong...he has already rolled over accidentally (tummy to back) a couple times and has intentionally rolled from his back to his side on his own regularly. He is one determined little guy...he holds his head up extremely well and the pediatrician basically says "you are gonna have your hands full really soon."
So I will just keep track of how he is progressing and evaluate when he might be ready based off of what you all have said.
TY, I appreciate it.

Mine did this too! He wasn't even a month the first time. I thought I was crazy until we got it on tape and had witness'. I got the Ergo as a gift when he was about 3 months old. I never even considered the infant insert. We just used it the regular old way. Trust your mama instinct - it usually leads you in the right direction.
