Grocery Store Poll clicky

I had a twin momma say to me "I don't know how you do it." today while I was checking out, just my girls and me (she had her husband and a set of grandparents with her and her LOs were 9 mths). So it got me wondering....[Poll]

Re: Grocery Store Poll clicky

  • Now that one is big enough to sit in the shopping cart, I love grocery shopping.  I push one/wear one.  It was harder before because they both hate being left in the carseat and wearing them both hurt my back.

  • I only go to the grocery stores I know have the double carts. So both are sitting there in front of me. I didn't before when they weren't big enought to sit in the cart.

  • Im glad to hear its possible to take both of them.  I cant wait for the weather to get better because Id like to try to take both babies to the grocery store.  I've taken them to 3 appointments alone but thats it!

  • absolutely do.  I prefer to go to stores with double carts but if they don't have those I'll put one in the cart and wear one.  the biggest pain for me is getting the groceries inside.  I don't have a garage (park on the street) and I don't like leaving the kids inside while I get the bags... so I usually make one trip carrying both kids AND a couple of bags of groceries (anything perishable) and leave the rest in the car until whenever my husband gets home.

  • I grocery shop with all THREE of my children at one time - by myself --- i do it all the time.  Is it easy? Nope - but that is my life now - not easy- but still doable and fun.

I get one of the carts with the "car" up front and put my toddler in that  - and the twins sit together on the seat up top... when they were smaller I'd wear one and put the carrier on the cart --- I don't ever have a ton of space for groceries- but that's OK - we end up in the store a few times a week anyway :)

  • No I don't do big grocery store trips by myself.  I might run in with all 3 kids to get a few things.  We usually go shopping on the weekend together with all 3 kids.

  • I haven't yet, typically we all 4 go to the store or I go by myself, DH has taken both kids to run in real quick, but never to do full on shopping. He is leaving for 3 weeks soon so I will have to pull on the big girl panties and do it. I don't know why it scares me, I've taken them shopping and to appointments all by myself before, but grocery shopping with them, I don't know.

I like taking my DDs to the grocery store, but if I take them or not depends on how much I have to get.  Before the DSNG was retired, if it was a trip that I could put what I needed in the basket, we were good to go.  However, if we needed to get milk or soda, I generally go by myself.  Not that the DSNG is no longer, I need to come up with a new plan.  I don't think they're quite old enough to do the car carts yet, but maybe soon.

  • What's DSNG?
  • When I was on maternity leave with the twins I would push the boys in the DSNG and pull the grocery cart behind me.  It was kind of a scene but it worked fine.  The boys usually slept the whole time.

As they got older DH and I would take them shopping with us on the weekends.  Now I tend to either go by myself in the evening after everyone is sleeping or I take one with me while the other stays home with DH.

  • DH and I almost always do our main grocery shopping together.  Even before DS1 was born we did our shopping together.
  • I didn't do it very often for a long time; usually I would wait till DH was home and leave the boys with him and go. It was a nice mini-break for me! But recently I've started going pretty much every week with the boys. It helps that our local grocery store has these carts:

If your store doesn't have any good twin shopping carts, talk to the manager and see if they'd consider buying a few of these!

  • I never went until the kids were 8 months old, that's when I got enough courage to go myself. I have a side by side Combi. I push them in the stroller and pull the cart. It is actually really easy. I wonder what I was so afraid of!!! I take them everywhere else by myself, why not the grocery store?
