Daily headaches

I've traded m/s for daily headaches, which the dr. told me was totally normal between now and 20 weeks.  I hate to take tylenol all the time, but I haven't found anything that works well at getting rid of the headaches. I'm already drinking 60+ oz of water every day, so I know I'm well hydrated.   Are there any med free tricks for stopping the headaches you have found?

Re: Daily headaches

  • Do you have a chiropractor?  I'd check into that if you don't have one.  Ice packs and heating pads on your neck would help, too.
  • Loading the player...
  • ditto on the ice packs.  I got the headaches a lot for a while too.  Until you are in the 2nd tri, you can't take much.  At that point sudafed is ok and helps some.
  • Thanks ladies.  DH is going to the chiro on Monday, so I think I'll tag along with him.

My dr. approved sudafed for me on Monday, but just a half dose, which I'm trying to limit to bedtime to help me breathe better while I sleep.

Ditto the sudafed.  I hope you feel better!

  • A little caffeine always helped me.  My doc suggested it after when I mentioned that tylenol didn't help much. :::shocking, right?:::   I was never a big caffeine person pre-preg (sodas, coffee, or tea) so I just drank about a 1/2 can of pepsi for the daily headaches I had and it worked for me.  I hope you feel better.
  • I had a lot of them as well during that second tri....honestly a coke helped.  I know it's caffeine but I figured if it helped and kept me from having to take tylenol then so be it.  Since I seemed to get them in the afternoons mainly that was when I'd drink it.

Wes rubbed my neck and shoulders a lot as well.

  • If you think it's allergies/sinus related, try AYR...it's just saline nasal spray- non medicated and it works wonders to lessen headache pressure.  It was my go to when I was pregnant.

Also, hot rags on  your forehead/eyes and neck will work well too.

     Good luck!
