Questions about NST

I know this is a stupid question but I want to be really comfortable while I'm laying in bed for 30 mins. So what did you wear to your NST? Do they give you a hospital gown? Thank you!

Re: Questions about NST

  • Mine are always done in the office at my OB or MFM.  I wear these:

I find its easier when I don't have to worry about rolling down a full panel.

These pants are the exact same ones I wore!

  • Mine were also in my OB's office.  I just wore the same Secret Fit belly pants that I always wore : )  (The belly is like pantyhose material so it's not a big bunch when rolled down.)

You may want to bring magazines too!  Sometimes they don't have current ones... and once I was going every 2 weeks they were usually the same as the last appt. : (

  • Mine were always in my OB's office.  I just wore yoga pants and a t-shirt.
  • mine was at the hospital (that is where are all my u/s are since the MFM office is in there)  I just wore a sweatshirt and m full panel yoga pants.  Its pretty cold in my office so i wore it to be comfy and warm.  bring a book or a mag!
  • Mine were at the hospital and I sat in a recliner chair.  I usually wore yoga pants and a long sleeve t-shirt.  They gave me a sheet to cover my belly but my little buggers were always a pain during the NST and the nurse was always having to adjust the monitors.

  • Mine are in my OB's office as well. I've just worn my regular maternity clothes, typically whatever I happen to be wearing to work that day. I've never been even remotely "comfortable"... not because of clothing, but because of the funky angle they make me lay at. And they monitor the babies one by one, so it's usually more like an hour than half an hour.

Also, I hear a lot of people say take a book or magazine, but the way they do it at my OB's office, both of my hands are always occupied for the test, so I've never been able to read. One hand is on the little clicker I'm supposed to push whenever I feel movement, and the other hand is usually occupied pushing the monitor thing harder against my belly...
