Health insurance question

Since I got the job in Ohio we are moving. DH's company is not located in OH, so he will be quitting his job and looking for a new one (he already has resumes out and has had a couple of call backs). If he continues to work at his company until my insurance kicks in, they will cover the pregnancy right? As long as I don't have a lapse in coverage?

We're talking a month before coverage kicks in, but DH has two weeks of vacation already scheduled this month... so really he will only be away from us for two weeks.

Oh and before anyone jumps down my throat about DH quitting his job in this economy I will be making VERY close to what he makes now. Since we will not be paying two state and two city taxes from my paycheck (like we do his) it will pretty much even out. :)

Re: Health insurance question

  • Pregnancy cannot be considered a pre-existing condition, so any insurance will cover it from the minute you're enrolled.

ETA: They'll cover regardless of a lapse in coverage or not.

  • I was not aware that pregnancy cannot be considered pre-existing. That's interesting!

  • Its against the law for pg to be considered a pre existing condition even if you do have a lapse in coverage.  Now if your DH has any medical conditions, they could put a P.E. clause on his coverage...
