My dh will not even think of the idea....Even though I tell him when we go to playgroup and someone has one that Cooper will play on it for a good 30 mins...Then he chases after all the pretty girls..
my dh has never mentioned anything sexist, but when it came to the play kitchen he was all, "i don't think he'd like it..." uh huh. until he saw him playing away with one at a friend's house and suddenly his opinion changed. we are planning to get dek one for his birthday in march.
... we have a play kitchen in our living room right now. C has one at his Mimi's house, too. I don't understand why a kitchen would be a gender specific thing, aren't most chefs men?
Boys need to learn to cook too and little boys love playing with play kitchens! I asked my DH what he thought about it and he didn't care...just said he wouldn't a pink one which I agreed with.
Well, my H prepares 90% of the meals in our home, so it's not a problem here. But we'll have one of each using the kitchen set in a year. We don't have one yet, but DH is anti-plastic so he's hoping to build one.
DH said he and his brothers had one when he was little. He also said he would have no issue with potential DS playing with DD's. That being said, I don't know that we would have went out and purchased one specifically for a boy.
My DH is actually wanting to get a nice one. We saw one from Little Tykes and it's a kitchen and has a "grilling area" on the reverse side. He said when we sell our house & move and have a play room we are def. getting that kitchen for the kids. No room in our house for it.

my dh cooks and is not some sexist crazy so yeah. he also buys dd trucks and tool benches. dh would also let our son take dance or gymnastics. we're not really down with assigning gender roles.

Yes, men are allowed in the kitchen. This isn't 1950 anymore! I hope if we have a son he learns to cook. My husband grew up in a 1950 style home and can barely scramble eggs.

My DH is also like this.
We would not be together if he were sexist. I have strong feelings about it.
We haven't gotten a kitchen because we don't have room. We do plan on getting him a baby doll soon, too.
I'm planning on getting DS a kitchen for his 2nd birthday. DH hasn't disagreed. DH does all the cooking in this house so I'm sure DS would love a kitchen to be just like daddy.
Sure. I agree with very few "lets" in my house. Granted, I'd ask him if I wanted a $200 one, but if I wanted a $30 off of Craigslist there would be no preapproval discussion.

We didn't buy one for DS because DD already had one but DS plays with it constantly and DH doesn't mind at all. Plus, it is is neutral colored, not pink or girly.

This is the one that Ds was playing with at a friends house and I loved it...Maybe mommy should just go out and buy it for valentines day for ds...
We have a play kitchen that DS loves. He also plays with DDs dolls, pink stroller and barbies. DD has toy cars and tools.

Re: Would your Dh let you get a play kitchen for DS??
my DH doesn't care about things like that.
Yes.
And I *gasp* let him get DD some my first craftsman power tools, too. Maybe I should start saving for therapy now.
I LOVE working with power tools and building things.
Sure, if it's something we thought DS would like.
Yep

We'll likely get one when we move into a bigger apartment.
We also let DS play with a doll, and DH couldn't care less.
Yes. My nephew loves his.
BTW- there are very few "lets" in my house. My DH couldn't stop me if I thought DD would like something. that's insanity.

lol - exactly. It was a major purchase at about $120, so I consulted with DH before buying it, but I didn't have to ask permission.
And no, DH isn't hung up on things being gender-specific. Some of your DH's objecting to things like this strike me as being utterly ridiculous.
