Those things are pretty dern accurate too. And unless you're a doctor or scientist and have the proof to back it up, please don't tell someone that there is nothing in the urine to detect the gender.

Really? Why dont you poll all the ladies who have used one. I bet it was accurate for about 50% of them.

I am a doctor and a scientist and can tell you there is nothing in your urine that predicts your baby's gender. Unless you are pissing out your child's chromosomes, which they need.
How you spend your money is up to you, but then it's up to me to judge you for spending it that way.

I'm sorry but babies do not secrete their DNA into your urine. Urine is not even an acceptable way to confirm the DNA of the adult being test, nevermind a fetus who hasn't begun secreting.

Um... Scientists and doctors are the ones who are working on developing it. I doubt they would put the time and effort into it if it wasn't possible. Regardless, it is really up to the OP to decide whether or not it was "money well spent." Even if the test is incorrect, I'm sure she had some fun using it and got a kick out of it.

Maybe she should have her fun by going to the dollar tree and buying a bunch of HPT. At least those are accurate.
For a mere 275.00 you can take the Gender Mentor blood test to confirm it..then you are all set! No need to wait for that ultrasound after all! Plus if Gender Mentor doesn't work you can atleast get in on that class action lawsuit so you will get your money back for all three tests plus some! WIN WIN.

I learned my lesson about posting about taking the intelligender for fun last week. I am planing on doing the test just once and FOR FUN ONLY! Yes an ultrasound is the most accurate but this is just something fun to do and since this is my last pg I think it would be neat come the big u/s to see if it was correct or not. What is the difference between this and all of you using OWT to predict the sex of your baby? Get over yourselves ladies!

... so you spend $70 on something that cannot possibly accurately predict the sex of your fetus?
Should've sent that $70 to the Red Cross instead, IMO. At least they could've gotten some good use out of it.
Yup I spent that money... How do you know that I haven't already donated money to the Red Cross?
I posted something a while ago about gender testing and it seems people on this board get bent out of shape over it. I learned the hard way about posting on the topic. It's too bad people judge when they don't know your whole story. It's your money you do what you want with it and don't worry about what anyone else has to say.
Wow...everyone must be extremely hormonal...claws are out.
It all comes down to choice.
If someone wants to do something, and spend money on something that you may not agree with no need to belittle. Think of your audience...you may just be kidding but your audience may be having a bad day and you just totally hurt them.
I am not saying I do or do not agree with her decision. It is her decision a nd her money. Do what you want with it. No need to cyber bully.
Be happy ladies for one another. We should be each other's biggest supporters, no need to be enemies.
Don't you think that if it was that simple, that docs would just tell you what the sex (not gender, ffs) is, if you wanted to know? After all, you pee in a cup every time you set foot in their office. If that worked, it would be much easier than waiting for the big ultrasound and hoping baby cooperates.
I mean, if you've got money to blow, have fun with that. But I wouldn't be dead set on having a boy at this point.
And unless you're a doctor or scientist and have the proof to back it up, please don't tell someone that there is nothing in the urine to detect the gender.
I am a doctor and a scientist and can tell you there is nothing in your urine that predicts your baby's gender.
I don't plan on using the intelligender because I can't justify spending the money for a 'maybe' guess, but controlled studies have shown that it IS more accurate than just a 50/50 guess - more like 75-85%. If that kind of accuracy is something you're willing to spend money on, then I don't see the need in making fun of people who try it out.
Of course, it's possible that they are making up those numbers, but I don't think they could legally market that if it was a complete fabrication (but correct me if I'm wrong)
edit: Ok honestly the more I read about this the more it really does seem like BS. I think it is horrible that they can claim they had a certain % in clinical trials when it seems to obviously not be the case. Foot in mouth for me

Just a side note from lurking, we utilized some of Baby can Read with my daughter and she was reading at a 1st grade level when she was 4 and 6 months later is nearing a 3rd grade level. We know part of that is because we work with her a lot on learning, but I do think the DVDs did help. And seriously, it was $40 on ebay, I'd rather buy that than yet another barbie

This exactly. She did not ask for opinions, she asked if anyone else had taken the test and what their results were. Who are any of you to tell someone how to spend their money or belittle them for a decision that you disagree with? This is ridiculous. Hormones or not, there's no reason to be a complete b!tch to someone who is simply joyous about her baby. If all it does is make you feel better about yourself, that's extremely sad.

Amen!
I also like what another poster said the other day when this topic came up that knowing the gender of your baby is not medically necessary, so this is not something doctor's offices would likely ever decide to administer. It's a nice bonus of the big ultrasound, but if you notice, your doctor is looking at 100 other things and doesn't care one bit what is between your baby's legs.
