It is the same menu the rest of the center uses, but they are very flexible. They cut up the stuff for them and will feed them stuff from home if you send it (some of the younger tots do still get jar food from home and bottles if they still use them as a few are shy of 12 months). They provide everything - bibs, sippy cups, etc. All you really need to provide is diapers, wipes, diaper cream, a change of clothes and a jacket - they go outside when they can on buggy rides, etc. Especially since your DD is on the younger side, you can ask to circle stuff on the menu you want her to try and supplement with stuff from home.
Here is an example of what Sarah had the past couple of days:
beakfast: yogurt, Cheerios, milk
am snack: diced pears, milk
lunch: fish sticks, mac&cheese, mixed veggies, steamed squash. milk
pm snack: teddy grahams, juice
breakfast: yogurt, cheerios, milk
am snack: strawberry yogurt bar, milk
lunch: beef fingers, brown rice, italian green beans, milk
I AM SO GLAD TO HEAR THEY ALLOW FOOD FROM HOME! REESE LOVES YOGURT AND CHEERIOS BUT WONT EAT CEREAL BARS OR MEAT FOR THAT MATTER. I AM JUST STARTING TO BE AUCESSFUL WITH CHICKEN IF I HIDE IT WELL. IVEI'VE TRIED CHEESE ITSIT'S WITH NO SUCCESS. I KNOW SHE WILL EVENTUALLY GET THERE. I THINK ITSIT'S STRANGE THEY PROVIDE SIPPY CUPS...IM ASSUMING THEY ARE NEW AND ASSIGNED TO THE CHILD. CAN I SEND HER WITH A NAP MAT?
Yes, they have assigned cups, but wouldn't be a big deal anyway since they have a dishwasher and washing machines, etc. They also have nap mats already.
You will be surprised what they can get the kids to eat. I am convinced seeing other kids eat it makes them want to do the same.
Nap time is right after lunch 12:30-2:30.
Relax! The whole point of this room is to transition the kids for the toddler room. None of the kids enter this room doing all this stuff. The teachers for this room are pros at teaching it to them. Sarah had a 1 hour nap in the morning and a 30 minute nap in the afternoon and they transitioned her to the one 2 hour nap, (on the floor on a mat no less) in only 2 weeks!
