Elders: When did your rings stop fitting?

Has anyone been able to wear their wedding rings the entire time?  Did anyone have a traumatic experience getting them off because they were too stubborn to take them off before it was too late? ;)

Re: Elders: When did your rings stop fitting?

  • I'm not quite an elder, but mine still fit.  Unless I get dramatically bloated in the next couple of weeks it looks like I'll probably be able to wear them the whole time... we'll see!

  • I'm still wearing my rings, comfortably. Took them off to clean them last night and got them back on no problem.

  • Ahh I'll be an elder tomorrow!! Wow lol but I'm still currently wearing my wedding set. I have had no swelling whatsoever
  • I stopped wearing mine at about 24 weeks but they still fit...I was just feeling claustrophobic and took them off....
  • So far, mine are still on.  No swelling at all.
  • No problems getting my rings on or off... though that reminds me, I do need to clean them!

  • Mine have been off for weeks! Ugh! I cant wait to get them back on, I feel naked without!

  • I'm not an elder but mine stopped fitting comfortably last week. I can get it on but when I go inside a warm building, my finger swells and I get nervous. So lately I have been wearing it around my neck on a chain. I don't want to have to get it cut off.

EDIT: I don't think my ring is having a hard time fitting because of swelling but rather weight gain, which I suppose it a type of swelling but less attractive.

  • I could still be wearing mine.  I don't have chronically swollen fingers, just depends on what I've eaten that day.

That said, I showed DH my fingers on a fat day, and he freaked out and asked me to PLEASE take them off.  So I complied.

  • Mine actually still fits if you can believe it, but I took it off anyway just in case my fingers swell up suddenly.

  • I could still shove mine on until probably 35 weeks, but I stopped wearing them at about 33 weeks because it got uncomfortable by the end of the day.
  • thankfully, I can still wear mine with no problems!

  • not an elder yet, but mine stopped fitting around 26 weeks or so.  i have had a swelling problem for a long while now...
  • I wore mine the entire pregnancy with DS - I never had any swelling in my hands.
  • I just took my rings off on Monday.  They still fit fine, but when I had the first c/s they pumped me up with a bunch of fluids and I got pretty swollen and it was tough to get them off.  I figured I'd just remove them now and bypass the few days of discomfort.
  • I'm not an elder quite yet...but I had to take mine off about a week ago. Sad day...
  • Mine started to make my hand ache pretty early .....23 weeks or so, so I haven't been able to wear them since :(
  • The day of my sister's wedding.

    December 12th (30 weeks).

Here I am.. big as a house knocked up and no rings. Been that way ever since.

  • I'm not an elder yet, but I haven't been wearing mine since about week 25.  I picked up a new set, just a fake engagement ring and wedding band so I wouldn't feel so naked.  The second engagement ring is starting to get tight and I may have to leave that off soon too.  :(

  • I'm still wearing mine.  My hands and feet haven't really even swelled at all.  My boobs are a different story though.... ;-/
  • I wore mine until I took them off this morning before my shower- that's when I noticed a significant indentation in my fingers and decided I should leave them off. My rings used to be slightly loose so I'm a little sad that I've become bloated! Everyone is different.. I didn't even realise they were getting restrictive until I took them off this morning!

  • Not an elder, but wanted to pipe in and say, I stopped being able to wear mine maybe last week.  I tried to wear them on my birthday when DH took me out and I panicked when I tried to get them off!  Now they are in my jewlery drawer until after LO gets here.  I thought of putting them on a chain, but anything that touches my neck makes me vomit...so thats out.

  • I wore mine the entire time with DS.
  • Not an elder, but I took off my rings around week 22ish.  I normally have really skinny fingers, and they've filled out a bit (maybe just overall weight gain?), so I had to wrestle them off.  Other than that, no other signs of swelling elsewhere.

  • I'm almost an elder... huh.

Mine stopped fitting around 6 months.  It wasn't a traumatic thing, but I couldn't get them off for about a day & a half.  As soon as my hands got cold enough & the swelling went down a little, I greased up & popped those suckers off.

I've been wearing DS3's "diamond ring" he bought me as a Christmas present from the school's Santa Shop.  It's adjustable.  =)

  • I wore my rings my entire pregnancy with DS and I was pregnant during the hot summer.  I only have a few weeks to go this time and I see no reason why I wouldn't be able to this time.  I eat pretty healthy and exercise and never had bloating or swelling in either pregnancy.
  • I had to stop wearing my rings around 35 weeks.  I tried to take them off one night before bed and it was stuck!  I had to put on a ton of lotion and practically have DH pull my finger off to remove it.  FWIW I have major swelling in my feet too, and it doesn't help that I stand up at work all day.

  • I can still wear my e-ring, but not my wedding band. My band is  1/2 size smaller then my e-ring and I havn't been able to wear it for a while now.

    Effing crazy people.
  • Mine fit the whole time I was pregnant with DS, and this time as long as I dont eat anything super salty they still fit
  • I'm not an elder yet this time, but I never had any swelling and was able to wear my rings throughout my first pregnancy and wore my wedding band during delivery. So far I'm still wearing them this time too.

  • Mine started to get tight around 29 weeks so I took them off because I did not want to risk having them sawed off.
  • I had to take mine off at 36 weeks sadly :( they still fit sometimes but I'll put them on, forget about them then I swell up and can't get them off...

  • Swelling was bothering me several weeks ago so I finally gave up.  I could probably get them on if I tried, but I go up and down so much during a given day that I'd rather just be comfy and not worry about losing them by having to take them off mid-day.
