i put aquaphor on his head when I notice it starting... It helps with the dryness but takes multiple shampoos before it gets out of his hair so it looks like he has gel in for a few days

I know this sounds weird but a patient told me she used A and D ointment and then kept the her babies head covered with a cap and did this overnight and she said the next day she washed her hair and it took care of it. So I tried it for DS1 when he was a baby and it did work. My mom told me to use baby oil and that works too.

Aquaphor! BEst stuff ever. Our pedi suggested slathering it on really thick. Letting it sit for 5 minutes and then bathing. Wash his head really well with Selsun Blue. Put a thin layer of Aquphor on after the bath.
Grace had a horrific case of cradle cap and this cleared it up in TWO DAYS!
DD's doctor recommended using a dandruff shampoo (head and shoulders). It has worked really well for DD. After I use H&Shoulders, I use baby shampoo so DD's hair smells like baby.
Baby oil before shampooing, and if that doesn't work, my pedi says that a small amount of Selson Blue on your pinky will work. We tried it last night and didn't notice an immediate difference, but am hoping that it starts to work soon!
If you go the Selson Blue route, watch out when you rinse because it's not tear-free.
Doctor told us to use some type of dandruff shampoo. They do make cradle cap shampoo. We used some shampoo by Mustella and lathered it on and then used a baby comb to help remove the flakes. Worked great.
DD has one spot of it forever (months and months), and finally I just used a baby comb to break it up and cmob it out after a bath one day (no oil or anything) and after that it was gone...

Meh, I'm just riding it out. Everything I've read says it clears up on its own without any treatment - it just takes time.
If you really want to do something, scrub a small amount of olive oil into the flakes, then brush with a baby brush. Of course, follow with a shampoo.

Quick, easy and cheap:
Travel size Head and Shoulders. Used it once never used it again. It was gone after one wash.
